Where are all the Japanese RPGS?
Are you an JRPG fan and wondering where they all are? People are wondering if there are any with a guaranteed release date because most of them are coming soon. Lets dive into the list and see whats happening, click through…
Enchanted Arms
Enchanted Arms is already out, it was released on the 3rd of April 2007. The reviews for this game are mixed but lean more towards being bad than good.
“In Enchanted Arms, players embark on an epic adventure filled with unique characters and more than 75 special controllable creatures that players can unlock as they progress. Players take on the role of Atsuma, an Enchanter-in-training who will transform from a naïve student to the most powerful savior in a war 1,000 years in the making. As the story develops, players face increasingly difficult challenges and learn to master Atsuma’s special fighting and magical abilities.”
Tales of Vesperia
Tales of Vesperia was tipped as an Xbox 360 exclusive but recent news say that it will come out for the Playstation 3 as well. Tales of Vesperia doesn’t have a release date as of yet.
“Tales of Vesperia launches the series to new heights of interactive narrative and engrossing gameplay with incredible anime-style graphics, a captivating storyline and characters as well as an upgraded battle system. Set in a world reliant on a mysterious ancient technology known as “blastia,” the game follows former knight Yuri as he delves into a shadowy plot to use these magical devices to control civilization, or destroy it.”
Disgaea 3
Has a current release date of August 2008 and is a Playstation 3 exclusive. For more information click here.
Valkyria Chronicles
Already out in Japan and will be released Q3 2008 everywhere else. This will be released exclusively on the Playstation 3.
“Valkyria Chronicles is set in a fictitious continent reminiscent of 1930s Europe - divided in two and ruled by the Empire and the Federation. The Empire has set its sights on invading a small neutral country called Gallia, which is situated in the middle of the two great empires. The game follows a hero named Welkin and his fellow soldiers of the Federation’s 7th Platoon as they engage in a series of epic battles.”
White Knight Chronicles
This is an eye catching RPG. White Knight Chronicles might hit Japan this year but probably won’t hit U.S and Europe until next year.
“White Knight Chronicles, like most other console RPGs, is presented in third person perspective. The player can freely choose which character to control. Like any other RPG, the characters gain experience points and level up, becoming stronger over the course of the game.”
Final Fantasy XIII
Probably the best RPG that will hit Playstation 3. FFXIII doesn’t have a release date as of yet and is exclusive to the Playstation 3.
“Final Fantasy XIII is the first installment in the best-selling series of role-playing games from Square Enix to appear on the PlayStation 3.”
Final Fantasy Versus XIII
Final Fantasy Versus XIII is an action based Final Fantasy title for the PS3, from the Kingdom Hearts and Advent Children teams. Won’t be released until after FFXIII.
Eternal Sonata
Eternal Sonata will be released sometime this year. The playstation 3 version will feature additional content.
“The story of Eternal Sonata begins as a famous composer, on his deathbed, drifts between this life and the next. In his reverie, a happenstance encounter of a young girl who accepts her terrible destiny and a young boy fighting to save her, changes the destiny of the world. Uncover the light that shines in each of us in this enduring tale of good and evil.”
The Last Remnant
“The Last Remnant will feature a brand new battle system labelled by Hiroshi Takai (director) as a “Turn-burst, command-based system using symbol encounters.” There will be no random encounters.[1] It will also contain quick time events, sequences where the player must press a combination of buttons with a correct timing to defeat enemies. This system has appeared in other video games before The Last Remnant, for instance in Shenmue, Dark Cloud, Kingdom Hearts II and God of War.”
Just everyone remember, you can’t rush quality. Games take long to make expecially RPG’s. They will come we have just got to be more patience. Any that are missing from the above list? Which one(s) are you looking forwards to most?
