Uncharted 2 update/patch 1.05 will be released today as Naughty Dog have officially announced it on their website. The update includes new trophies, 12 in-game multiplayer medals, 6 new skins and two new maps.

New Trophies

• Sneaky… – Get 50 Stealth Kills
• Brass Knuckles – Get 100 Melee Kills
• Tastes Like Chicken – Get 20 BBQ Medals
• Rapid Fire – Get 7 Tripled Medals in Deathmatch
• I Told You I Was Hardcore! – Complete All 3 Co-op Objective Maps on Hard Difficulty
• Made It – Finish Wave 10 in one Survival Game
• Gold Digger – Finish Wave 10 in one Gold Rush Game
• Wipe Them Out… – Win 50 Deathmatch Games
• Plays Well With Others – Win 50 Objective Games
• Still Alive – Win 50 Elimination Games
• Plundered! – Get 200 Captured Medals
• Cold Blooded – Get 2,500 Kills in Deathmatch or Elimination games

New medals

• Tip Off – Be the First Player to Grab the Treasure in Plunder
• Protectorate – Shoot and Kill 5 Enemies that were Damaging the Treasure Carrier
• No Cigar – Kill the Treasure Carrier while They are about to Score
• None Shall Pass – Get 5 Kills while in the Hill during a King of the Hill
• First! – Get the First Kill of the Game
• Finish Him! – Get the Last Kill of the Game
• Retaliation – Kill the Last Player that Killed You
• Defender – Kill a Player that is Actively Shooting One of Your Teammates
• That Was Embarrassing – Earn a Shutout in Plunder
• Put’em Down – Kill Someone in the Knockdown State with a Pistol Weapon
• Unlucky – Die 5 Times in a Row without Getting a Kill
• Tricky – Kill a Player with a Pistol Weapon while Hanging

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has revealed that they plan to put Uncharted and Uncharted 2 back on the market in a gold slipcase. The pack will cost around 7,980 yen and will be released on the 18th of Feb 2010.

With regards to downloadable content, the list is below.

Uncharted 2 has received some free DLC, which was released on Friday 27th November, here’s the list of things that were added.

* Added Global and Friends list Leaderboards to the Multiplayer menu with the following categories:

o Global Competitive Wins
o Global Co-op
o Global Kills
o Global Money
o Friends Competitive Wins
o Friends Co-op
o Friends Kills
o Friends Money

* Added a player card to the Multiplayer menu
* Added “The Fort” multiplayer map

Uncharted 2 Among Thieves is set to get a new map this Friday. This is the first downloadable content for the game as it will include special skins in competitive matches: Doughnut Drake for the Heroes, and Doughnut Lazarevic for the Villains.

Naughty Dog has made a promise to bring something awesome to Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and that promise is still alive after a recent tweet on Twitter said:

Things are looking up that we’re going to have something quite awesome lined up for multiplayer at the end of this week

So by the end of the week we will know what this ‘awesome’ thing is, whether it’s free or to buy.

Uncharted 2 was released not long ago but there are already rumours saying that Uncharted 3 is in early stages of development.

In the latest Official PlayStation Magazine (December 2009, UK version), in the latest ‘The Big 10′ section, the guys over at OPM have asked Uncharted 2 Multiplayer designer Justin Richmond ‘How do you top Uncharted 2?’. The answer, well it seems to all-but confirm that early work has begun on the sequel;

Haha! More of it.” he said “The guys back at the office are already starting to look at optimising the engine, getting more stuff on screen – all the stuff that we’ve done in this project that we could do better with

We really hope Uncharted 3 is in development.

Are you going for the platinum trophy but having difficulties going through the game on the crushing difficulty setting? Well the nice people over at I-Heart-Zombie have put together a tips and strategy guide for beating the game on this very settings.

Crushing Mode can be rather difficult and frustrating. Not only does it take more bullets to kill an enemy, it takes less to kill you.

So here we go! Remember, this isn’t a step-by-step walkthrough for the entire game. I won’t go through with the platforming or puzzles, but strictly involve the main gunfights you’ll be encountering.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has helped the sales of the Playstation 3 by 25%, this is great news. Uncharted 2 itself sold around 440,000 units during the first week, making it the third largest PS3 week one ever in America.

PS3 hardware also saw a nice increase last week – up around 25% to 100,000 units and again ahead of Xbox360. We are still waiting for European data to come in but expect around 350,000 – 450,000 units for the week and similar hardware increases.

Naughty Dog have thanked other development companies for their contributions, other companies include Bungie, the team behind the Halo series.

Neil Druckmann of Naughty Dog explains why they thanked such companies and this is what he has to say:-

Re: thanking other developers. We try to be quite open with our technology and our process. We exchanged technology and ideas with other developers. We wanted to make sure we thanked everyone that helped us out in some way.

You will see the thank you’s during the closing credits in Uncharted 2.

Below is a video of the European Uncharted 2 Among Thieves TV commercial. The game is scheduled to be released on the 16th of October 2009.

We’re not talking about the rapper Drake but about Nathan Drake from the Uncharted games. Following Amy Hennig comment to D’toid that folks may not have seen the last of Nathan Drake.

The hero is still popular enough to develop another sequel

There is no limit to how many games we could make, as long as people still want to see more adventures with Nathan Drake. Obviously, none of us want to wear our welcome out, but we are still having a lot of fun with it, and we think there is a lot of untapped possibilities there

Though that sounds they could milk this till it’s worthless like the Need for Speed franchise we hope Naughty Dog approach this concept better then EA has.

Naughty Dog announced over at the US PlayStation Blog that the multiplayer demo for Uncharted 2 is now available for download. With the demo clocking at 1.3GB, you’ll get all the standard multiplayer features. There are 4 Competitive maps, 2 Co-op modes.

If you are in love with Twitter, the service where you post tweets (status updates) you’ll love Uncharted 2. Why? Simply because Uncharted 2 will have Twitter integration.

This afternoon I was lucky enough to find myself in possession of an early peek at the upcoming Uncharted 2 multiplayer demo.  And while the gameplay is rock solid (the beta earlier this year pretty much confirmed that) what reakky blew me away was an extra little menu tucked away in the Options.  An extra little menu labelled “Twitter.”

As you can see from the image above, the hook up to Twitter doesn’t appear to be live yet.  Either that or the internet hates me and must have me destroyed.  Regardless, we weren’t able to get it working just yet.

The Twitter options page claims it will “Tweet your progresses as you play,”  but what does that really mean?  Clicking on the “Events” menu gives us a pretty decent glimpse;

Everyone is waiting to play the best game early and the next one to keep an eye on is Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Naughty Dog have announced that starting September 29, there will be a public open multiplayer demo available to download and to all.

No news on what the demo will have to offer but we’re guessing it will be the same as the closed beta.
