Cold Front DLC available in 2010 for EuropeThat’s what SCEE representive Mike Kebby had as an answer to a question raised by one of many people wondering why it wasn’t on the list.
It seems Europe has taken another back seat with Socom: Confrontations, something which will definitely disappoint the already fragile gamer base in Europe. Despite the 1.60 update which should have been what the game must have been from the start, many we’re ‘coming back’ for the DLC. But with a game like MAG coming a few weeks (or even shorter depending how late Europe gets it) after the new year, will gamers still be interested in picking it up for a price that will be equal to the dollar price (£12,99/€14,99) like we’ve seen in the past with other games/add-ons.
North America will still be able to enjoy the downloadable content from today for $9.99. Then after the 20th of December the price will go up to $14.99.

Socom Confrontation DLC listThe game was highly anticipated but never lived up to it’s reputation according to some. But the hardcore of believers sticked with the game and they are being rewarded. Since update 1.50 was announced we were also waiting on news on what the DLC package might contain. Slant Six Games has finally posted the list of what we can expect later this summer.
- All new Area of Operation
- New Features
- New Game Mode
- New Maps
- New Characters
- New Weapons & Attachments
- New Music
- New Voice-Over
We can’t give you detailed information at the moment but keep an eye out during the next few weeks though as as Slant Six will post them.

It was a while since I read about the patch being send to Q&A but now there is a little bit more information out. The Q&A (of SCE) and the development team of Slant Six are working hard on resolving issues that arose during the testing.
This is taking longer then normal due to the ‘enormous amount of features’ being added. Which include the Tournament and Clan Ladder.
We’ll be hearing more once the patch has been finalized.

Since the last patch of Socom: Confrontation and the release in Europe the game managed to pick up some more gamers despite the bad start the game had.
Slant Six Games are still working hard to make this game worthy to be called a PlayStation 3 game. The gaming community requested some features and Slant Six Games responded. In the upcoming patch of 1.50 you can expected the follwing changes and additions:
- Added the ability to join directly into a friend’s game off of the friend’s list.
- Added password protected custom games.
- Drastically improved the weapon selection ring. You can now move while selecting weapons and the weapon selection is much faster and more accurate.
- Slightly reduced the Famas accuracy.
- Improved the damage of the Desert Eagle. One shot kill with light and medium armor.
- Improved sniper rifle damage. One shot kills with bolt action rifles on light and medium armor.
- Fixed a large number of level exploits.
- Channel names are sorted alphabetically by default.
- Reduced the long fade in at the beginning of rounds to less than 1 second (the “darkness” is gone).
- Added a 30 second game start timer to games when greater than 60% of the players ready up.
- Clan patches are now displayed on your character in-game.
- Clan tags are now displayed with your player name in-game.
- Added center markers to all scopes and changed the color of the crosshairs so that they are visible at night.
- Kill cam stops following target after 5 seconds.
- Button prompts in death cam fade out after 5 seconds.
- Target Spotting now defaults to off.
- Weapons selected in-game are not saved to your custom loadout.
- Option to Disable D-Pad lean and re-assign left and right directional buttons.
- Ladder Climb less audible.
- Round timer for 8×8 Medley decreased to 5 minutes.
- Picking up the bomb prompt now has priority when a body is on top of the bomb.
If your worried about a possible stat reset, don’t be. SCEA Community Manager, Cindy Bowens learned that at this time, there are no plans for a stat wipe.
So keep feeding those programmers info on bugs, and possible improvements to get this game to a level it should be.

Available starting at 2 A.M. Pacific Time, you’ll be able to download the latest patch for the (according to many still broken) game Socom: Confrontations.
The following fixes are going to be implemented:
- Fixed an issue where players were spawning in incorrect locations.
- Fixed an issue where players who were voted out of a game were not removed from the game until the end of the round.
- Addressed an issue where the ragdoll would sometimes receive extreme values.
- Added some bandwidth optimizations to improve the overall on-line experience, especially under less than ideal network conditions. More bandwidth optimizations to come in future updates.
Slant Six Games will also announce details on for patch 1.50 later this week so keep an eye out here for the news.

February 18
Info on Socom: Confrontations server issuesSlant Six Games has found (one problem) to the latency issue. The problem they discovered was a server side one, which created games for North American players on Asian servers and vice versa. When the number of North American hosts were reduced the issue only got worse.
By playing on custom (game) servers the issue was not so big (depending n the hosts connection).
On February 15th they returned to the same amount of servers before they were reduced to attempt a temporary solution, while the server team works on a fix for the root problem.
We hope they solve this quickly before the European Servers get switched on.

A post made by the Socom team informed people that they are still responding and acting on comments, questions and suggestions.
The first good news they had was that the on-line player counts increased by 50% since the 1.30 patch. Hours per player stats were also up by 33% making this SCEA’s number 1 online title.
In the next upcoming patch we can expect them fix a slowdown seen when managing large clans and a number of other functionality, stability and non-English language fixes. Also in the works are Clan Ladders, Tournaments and another community requested bundle of fixes.
Here is the rest. (more…)

SOCOM: Confrontation 1.30 update out in JanuaryAs most of you were still wondering when then the update for Socom: Confrontations would be out, Seth Luisi shed some light on a possible release date. He hopes that the update will be available to us before January 13th 2009.
But this all depends on when the SCE Format QA team judges it to be ready for public release. The QA staff of Slant Six Games will be working during the holidays to further prepare a final candidate for final acceptance testing. But since the SCE team is free for the holidays this is the reason why the update will be out in 2009.
Seth Luisi hopes that this patch will finally solve a lot of the stability issues including the well known “heart attack” bug.
Once this update gets out and doesn’t have any major problems, we hope that Socom: Confrontations will finally be distributed to users outside North America.
