While CVG was writing about Resident Evil 5 shipping over four millions copies worldwide, Chart Track confirmed to them that the game is “in the process becoming the fastest selling game in the franchise and Capcom’s biggest ever launch”.

In it’s debut week in Japan, the game managed to sell over 400,000 copies. So the four millions is too big of a target? Maybe, but they probably decided to do this after discovering that the demo was downloaded over four millions times.

Thanks to the company’s proprietary engine, the MT Framework, Capcom was able to make Resident Evil 5 a multi-platform title, giving a vast number of players the opportunity to enjoy the game

A successful franchise? 40 Millions sold since 1996 should help make your opinion.

There is something in the third chapter of Resident Evil 5 that Capcom doesn’t want us to know about. In fact, Capcom has told reviewers to avoid talking about and taking screenshots/videos of the island section of the third chapter.

So, what is it that Capcom are trying to hide? More racism? Spoilers? Have a guess.

Earlier this week PSFocus have managed to grab some information regarding the situation with Killzone 2 downloadable content. The DLC is apparently going to be available after the game has launched (next week). An anonymous has reported saying that they have information about this DLC.

  • Not all DLC for Killzone 2, free. There are paid and free DLC’s planted.
  • The DLC is in the form of: Maps, Extra Game Modes, etc…
  • Guerrilla is currently working on an ingame store as in Metal Gear Solid 4. Here you can earn points by clothes and buy upgrades for your character.
  • Retro Maps come to Killzone 2 via DLC (ie maps from Killzone 1)

We hope this is true, we’re flagging this up as a big fat rumour though.

A new mode will be making its way to Resident Evil 5. In the March issue of the Official Playstation Magazine US, there is a review for the horror title and somewhere in the review they mention some downloadable content, here’s what it says.

The fun doesn’t end when you complete RE5’s main story-line,

We’re sworn to secrecy, but we’ve had a peek at an unlockable mode for forthcoming DLC, and it’s awesome.

No word on what exactly is unlocked but we’re guessing it could be new weapons, costumes and possibly a new difficulty.

I guess we will all find out when we complete the game after Friday 13 of March 2009.

Thank the good people of PlayStation Lifestyle for these beautiful screenshots. We know that there are heated discussion about the combat system but that’s all the opinion of the person who plays it.

Shawn Baxter of Capcom has hinted in the comments section of his latest post on the PSBlog regarding the Resident Evil 5 demo that Playstation 3 users could be entitled to some downloadable content.

Capcom plan to release more information about any possible DLC soon.

Alright, so I did some digging about some of your questions around here. So far mums the word on DLC, but I will say there’s some exciting content coming for PS3 users… ;)

More on that soon.

This sounds like the content is exclusive to PS3…i guess we will have to wait and see.

Resident Evil 5 will be released on Friday the 13th of March. Many people are wondering if this horror game will require an installation… the answer is yes and it’s pretty big too.

The game will require 5GB of your Playstation 3 hard drive, sorry 20GB/40GB owners, you may have to free up some space before you pop this game in.

On the back of the Resident Evil 5 boxart, it shows there’s a max of 16 players while system linking. Capcom confirmed to VG247 that the boxart isn’t lying.

What do you guys think the offline multiplayer will be about?
