That’s right, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has become the 4th best selling game of all time. Anita Frazier of the NPD group said:

The best selling game of the month was Super Mario Bros. Wii, which also captures the third spot on the annual top 10 list for 2009,

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has become the fourth best selling game of all time. In fact, three of the top ten games of all time are Call of Duty games.

Here’s a useful video on how to beat High Explosive on the Veteran difficulty. You” need to beat this level if you want to get the platinum trophy. It is probably the hardest level on spec ops.

Yesterday we mentioned that Modern Warfare 2 will be patched with verion 1.06. The patch is now available for download the the fixes are:-

• Javelin fix
• care package glitch fix
• addresses areas where players could get into geo, like rocks on Afghan

You’ll be prompted to download the patch when you next play the game.

As many of you know there is a glitch in Modern Warfare 2 called the Javelin glitch and it hasn’t been patched yet. This is where patch 1.06 comes into play.

As well as the Javelin glitch, 1.06 patch will resolve several other issues and bugs that are unamed. No word on a release date just yet but it has been submitted to Sony.

Modern Warfare 2 has recently launched and already there is some downloadable content planned. Robert Bowling has mentioned on Twitter that the first DLC pack won’t be released until Spring 2010.

DLC is planned fir the wonderfully vauge timeframe of Spring. I’ll let you know when we know when it’ll be done.

The sequel to Modern Warfare has sold a massive 4.7 million units day one across all platforms in the US and UK. Activision has announced that their newest entry in the Call of Duty series has been the biggest launch in history across all forms of entertainment. It is believed that the sell-through sales were $310 million in North America and the UK alone on day one.

The Call of Duty franchise has become a cultural phenomenon showing the power of video games as an entertainment medium,” said Mike Griffith, CEO, Activision Publishing, Inc. “The shattering of these entertainment records is a testament to the compelling, cinematic and uniquely engaging experience that the Call of Duty brand delivers. 80% of the gamers might not like the CEO of Activision but one of the games in his company just broke the first day sales int he UK. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 sold 1.23 million units according to ELSPA and GfK Chart-Track. It easily broke the record 613,000 units of GTA: IV.

A Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 patch has been released to fix an issue with the trophy system.  Many users complained on the official Modern Warfare 2 forums that they were unable to unlock certain trophies. When you load the game up you will be prompted to download the new update.

During a Sunday Night Football game in the US Infinity Ward showed off a new trailer for their game. Your gonna see a couple more locales in the game, and some new scenes in this trailer.

This is the first level (Takedown) from the single player of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This was filmed at a video game conference. Check it out.

For those of you that were put off by the Nazi Zombies in World at War will be pleased to hear that there will be no zombies in Modern Warfare 2.

It depends on what it is. For us it didn’t fit in our game. We have Spec Ops which is our off-the-storyline path, but it’s just not our bag really. We like to keep it consistent and in the same universe, not to say that we wouldn’t do something like that in the future, but for what we are doing right now it’s just not something we’d do. We want everything to… like things we do in multiplayer contribute to things we put in the single-player, which contribute to things we put into multiplayer, which contributes to things we put in Spec Ops. If you have ray-guns and teleporters it’s not going to help.

Infinity Ward just uploaded some new gameplay for their upcoming title Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. A new multiplayer mode was shown called Flag Runner. It’s just like Capture the Flag, you’ll be able to run and shoot with the flag. Two new kill streaks was also seen, called Air Drop, and Predator Missile. The riot shield was also shown having the teammate cover the flag carrier. Host migration has also been added, so when the host disconnects, a new host will be automatically chosen. It’ll possibly break up the combat for a few key seconds, but it’s better than not being able to complete a match. The last new feature seen, was a soldier sneaking up behind a sniper. Instead of running up behind him and knifing him, instead he throws the knife at his enemy, gaining an instant kill. Check the video out below.

Infinity Ward just released on their Youtube Channel a video of the multiplayer in action. Few new weapons were shown along with a Kill Streak Perk system. You’ll be able to customize your Kill Streaks. So far only one has been shown at the current moment. The AC-130 Gunship Perk allows you to rain fire down on your opponents down below while the plane flies overhead. It also appears that you can attach the motion sensor shown in the E3 demo to your weapons, as shown on the SAW. Also you can stick grenades on your opponents.
