After the festival pack being announced, Old Snake finally gets it’s appearance in LittleBigPlanet.

In this release you can get Meryl, a Screaming Mantis and Old Snake but here are also special deals like a full Character pack and a Level Pack. PS3Fanboy feel that we might expect a little bit more in in the Level Pack so we have to wait and see.

An expected release date is not yet set but it being displayed on the Hong Kong website must only mean we can expect is very soon. (Let’s hope today)

At the Tokyo Game Show, Media Molecule announced that Solid Snake and Sephiroth will be available in LittleBigPlanet.

It all started with the Helghast thing. It was really funny because we were aware of a lot of possibilities of who we could work with. I remember the first time that Final Fantasy was mentioned, and there was a bet over whether it would be happened since it’s such a precious franchise.

And with Metal Gear, I bought my PS1 for Metal Gear Solid, and I didn’t have a memory card – so I left the game on when I went to work and came home and played some more.

To be involved with MGS is… slightly bizarre. When we were looking at what options as a studio we’d have to work with, they were under the “yeah, right!” category of games.

LittleBigPlanet
and Sackboy have a strong identity and flavor. So then you try to find the translation to Metal Gear and Sephiroth, and the guys that made the characters really brought the flavors of LittleBigPlanet and Metal Gear together and kept the flavor of both of them

[On Final Fantasy collaboration:] It’s a whole universe, and they’ve built up this ethos. And we’re honored to be let into that universe.

We got the chance to play the beta of the game, and we want to share you our experience of the game.

The game is essentially easy and pick up to play. At first you’ll need to play through levels in order to start making your own content. I’ll go into content making later in this post. You will first have to play through the credits to get the feel of the controls.

In each level you play you can find stickers scattered throughout the level. Some are hidden, and you can collect the green orbs to gather points. The more points you score the higher up you go on the Leaderboards, but then if you have 2 or more players than it provides a race to see who has the most points.

The online component for the beta was a bit laggy when it was full. So, it’s a nice thing that they delayed the online part for the game. Other than that, you can play levels, user created levels, and even make levels with your online friends. It’s a fun experience for offline and online friends. Personally I liked swinging my arm around and smacking people to their death.

User Created Content, since the beta begun many people were already cracking on making levels. Lots of them are pretty wicked you can say. It’s pretty easy to make your own level. The level editor provides you with videos, and tutorials. Playing these tutorials helps you unlock more goodies to help you in your creations. I have messed around with it here and there, but I won’t begin making levels until the full game releases. Some of you may ask, is it hard to use the level editor? The answer for that is a no, it’s easy to pick and and create something within 10 minutes.

Well there you have it, the hands-on experience. But due the limited timing of the beta, we aren’t able to do a contest for a beta code giveaway. We have one spare code to provide, to whoever is lucky enough to be able to snag it. I’m not sure if the code is region locked, if it is, then we apologize. To get the beta code just shoot an e-mail over at aerfox@talkplaystation.com. So happy spamming people.

Update: Giveaway over, somebody had already claimed the code.

Just noticed I had another one from the PlayStation Underground. It doesn’t say it’s linked to my PSN ID, so hopefully it works. Again send me an e-mail at aerfox@talkplaystation.com. Please Put LittleBigPlanet Beta as the title please.

Update: Second Code was taken. Thanks for all that tried to receive a code. I might be able to scrounge up a few more codes. If so, stay tuned to this article.

For those of you who live near a GameStop, then you might want to bother the employees for those voucher codes to receive the new incentives that GameStop has added for the pre-order goodness. Not only will you be getting a Kratos costume, but you’ll also get a Medusa, and Minotaur costumes, plus a unique level pack.

For the past week, game sites have been giving away beta keys for Little Big Planet. First Eurogamer had some giveaways. Then Game Informer had there’s. Today was the day when 1UP, IGN, PlayStation Blog, GamePro, and LittleBigPlanet Official Site, had given away keys.

Out of all the sites listed, 1UP is going to continue to give away keys. All other sites ran out. X-Play, a G4 game show will be giving some away tomorrow. so stay tuned.

With Eurogamer being the first to let people to experience Little Big Planet, by giving out beta keys. GameSpot has also done the same tonight. Game Informer is also releasing beta keys, via by random to those who have subscribed to their newsletter. More beta keys will be available starting next week to a number of different sites. It’s unknown on what sites will release beta keys, but expect us to provide you all the news, when we hear of it.

I received my Little Big Planet beta key via Game Informer, and I will thank them. I will have a Hands-On Article sometime this weekend. It will also contain screenshots from the game to keep you all happy.
