Kojima, and fans of the Zone of Enders games are eager for a sequel. With a recent interview over on the EU PlayStation Blog about Peace Walker, there was talk of Zone of Enders 3.

“A lot of [people] love Zone of the Enders, and we love the title as well, especially at Kojima Productions and we always want to create one for the next gens as well,” he said.

He goes on to say that the game won’t be coming out anytime soon, due to other projects being focused on, especially with shifting of management and staffing around between projects.

Some rumors simply don’t go away, other are being kept alive by ‘anonymous sources’. This time Sean Eyestone spoke out on a podcast from Kojima Productions.

Just to address one issue that we’ve been getting a lot of comments about. And this is, of course, about trophies.

I just wanna tell everybody out there right now that your voices are being heard and that we’re not ignoring you. We hear everything that you are saying. It’s just that we can’t say anything just yet.

But as soon as we have something to say, we will announce it. So, if we can just ask everyone to just be patient, we will give you an answer. But right now we can’t say anything. So we just ask for everyone’s understanding with that and just ask for everybody to remain patient and we’ll let you know.

Still going to reply it for the trophies?

With the new year merely a half dozen days under way, Hideo Kojima let know in an interview with Famitsu that this year will be a very important year to his studio.

That said, he is currently reviewing his staff and working structure to compete with ‘foreign creators’ as he steps in a new direction.

I’ve come to understand that the way we’ve made games up until now won’t translate globally, and I’ve come to think that I need to make Kojima Productions a team that can compete alongside the rest of the world

I’ve thought a lot about how Western games have been winning, looking it from a global perspective, and there are things that I’ve noticed. So 2009 will be a year of change, a year where we start from zero again

Though we are not sure how he thinks that Western games are winning. Metal Gear Solid 4 was chosen as ‘Game of the Year’ by many game sites and industry people. That surely doesn’t mean your losing.
By moving ‘west’ many have the feeling this is Hideo Kojima first step to creating a Xbox 360 game along side a PS3 version. The question that then arises, which will be the port or will they both be developed equally?

This is the final interview he gave when he was working at Kojima Productions, he gives his thoughts looking back on working on Metal Gear Solid 4. Not only that, the team didn’t even know how Metal Gear Solid 4 was going to turn out when they released their teaser trailer “Nowhere to Hide”.

1UP: “Nowhere to hide” was one of the promises in MGS4’s first teaser trailer, suggesting dynamic, destructible environments…which weren’t really present in the final game. What happened to them? Will we ever see a Metal Gear like that?

RP: It’s fun to go back and look at that trailer, since it was made so early in the production of the game. I think it’s safe to say that we didn’t even know exactly what MGS4 was going to be when we made that.

After many reports saying that Metal Gear Solid 4 is the last in the series. Fear not, Hideo Kojima himself has stated that he has got to think about Metal Gear Solid 5.

Kojima said:

“I gotta start thinking about MGS5… Even though, well, Snake’s story ends in MGS4. …About MGS5, that would be something that Kojima Productions would have to make, I think.”

Previous statements from Ryan Payton suggested that there will be a MGS5 but not with Solid Snake as Snake’s story ends in MGS4.

My opinion is that yes there will be a Metal Gear Solid 5 but Solid Snake won’t be in the game. Raiden anyone?

Hideo Kojima has recently said in an interview that he may leave the Metal Gear series into the hands of his younger colleagues and the man himself will take a different role in the next Metal Gear game. Kojima said:

“Maybe I’ll sit in as producer and let the young staff take control of the new series. I really want to go on to new things.”

And here is a question he got asked:

Q: You’ve indicated that this will be your last “Metal Gear Solid” game. Are you looking forward to other projects or will you continue to be involved in the series?

A: “MGS will always be around. I feel a responsibility to continue this series as long as users demand it. But it doesn’t mean I’m going to sit in completely. I’ll probably take a different role in the next game. Maybe I’ll sit in as producer and let the young staff take control of the new series. I really want to go on to new things.”

So we was right in saying Metal Gear Solid 4 is not the last. In an interview with MTV, Ryan Payton comments:

“I think there’s been some misconceptions that this is the last ‘Metal Gear,’”

“This is really just the last chapter of the saga of the Solid Snake story.”

So basically the next Metal Gear game will not have Solid Snake and if it did it would be a prequel.

Hideo Kojima has already said that he wants to move on and make a new title or remake past games such as Zone of the Enders. That doesn’t mean Metal Gear Solid 5 won’t be made, it means that the series will get a new producer.

Also there is slight evidence that MGS5 could be made because of the following information…

Konami hosted their Metal Gear Solid 4 event in Tokyo a week or two ago and at the end of the event you could hear Ocelot’s voice and Ocelot said:

“By the way, what should we do about “The Project?” Yes, that’s correct. That man has fallen. It’s about the sequel.”

Not only that but when Hideo Kojima announced that Metal Gear Solid 4 was complete and ready to go he mentioned that it’s the grand finale, “final episode of the Solid Snake saga” and “Snake’s final mission.”

So what does this tell us? The next Metal Gear game won’t have Solid Snake? A new character could be introduced? The grand finale of what? Solid Snake? Kojima hasn’t said the Metal Gear Solid series is over but he has said it is “his” last one.

We will have to wait and see. I know that MGS4 isn’t out yet but what are your opinions on the possibility of MGS5 being made?
