Ever wanted to know how much the big games cost to make? Diggingtheweb.com have compared some big name titles such as the Final Fantasy series up to Grand Theft Auto IV.
Surprisingly Killzone 2 isn’t going to cost as much as people are saying, according to diggingtheweb.com the development cost so far is around 20 million USD with a development budget of 40 million USD, and this is probably not including the advertisement.
“These numbers came from various sources, most of the numbers are from the various Famitsu I have collected over the years, these are by no means exact numbers. These numbers are only the development cost not including the advertisement and promotions. For example, the total cost of getting Halo 3 out of the door was close to 60 million USD, but the development cost was only about 30 millions.”
| Project | Estimated Cost |
| Final Fantasy VII | 26 million USD |
| Final Fantasy X | 40 million USD |
| Final Fantasy XII | 52.3 million USD |
| Final Fantasy XI – Online + PlayOnline Network System | 17-25 million USD |
| Killzone 2 | 20 million since 2007 |
| Halo 3 | 30 million USD |
| Gears of War | 10 million USD (not including the cost of Unreal Engine) |
| Metal Gear Solid 4 | 45 million USD |
| GTA 4 | 100 million USD (rumored) |
No surpise that GTA IV cost 100 million USD to develop. Looks like Killzone 2 is set to get TWICE as good with a development budget of 40 million USD.

Rockstar today have announced that a new patch is available for Grand Theft Auto IV. Fixes include:
“multiplayer connectivity issues including freezes during certain modes, continuation when players leave matches, and bugs within races and race lobbies.”
Here’s the full list of fixes:
- Fixed an issue where players were unable to enter or exit vehicles in GTA Race.
- Fixed an issue where scripted vehicles were causing games to unexpectedly crash.
- Improved reliability and frequency of PS3™ online leaderboard updates.
- Fixed a rare hang some players encountered when moving from a Race or GTA Race lobby into gameplay.
- Fixed a hang that would occur when players were switching teams during the countdown in the lobby.
- Fixed an issue where players were able to get ridiculously high scores from Cops ‘n Crooks matches.
- Changed GTA Race and Race so that the last player remaining always receives a reward of $250.
- Fixed an issue where spectating players would prevent the game from finishing.
- Fixed an issue where players were unable to spectate in Round 2 of Cops ‘n Crooks games.
- Changed countdown timer in lobby so that it no longer resets when new players join a game.
- Changed the kick option so that kicked players are no longer brought back to single player.

GTA IV Car Glitch/BugThis is probably the most annoying glitch in Grand Theft Auto IV EVER! So i spend hours and hours trying to find the perfect sports car to put in front of my safe house… still can’t find one and i still can’t find one. Eventually i found the car i was after, started to drive it back to my safe house only to find about 50 parked outside it! After all that time and effort gone to waste.
Why is it that when you try to find a car your after, it never shows up but as soon as you find one and start driving around you run into loads either parked up or driving.
Here’s the glitch/bug in action, i had to show it, screenshots and a video.
And here’s the video. Beware of me controlling Niko, holding a Camera while controlling a game doesnt work.
This wouldn’t bother if there were ‘less’ sports cars but driving around for so long without even seeing one and then you finally find one and see aload of them is slightly offset.
Has something like this ever happened to you? What are your most annoying GTA IV glitches?

See Niko go flying again
So did Grand Theft Auto IV help? Looks like it to me. 8.5 million units have been sold through to consumers so far and more is expected to be sold. Net revenue for the second fiscal quarter was $539.8 million, compared to $205.4 million for the same quarter of fiscal 2007. So thats more than double so yes, GTA IV did help!

Can Niko Bellic fly?Can Niko Bellic fly? Find out in this rather funny video of Grand Theft Auto IV where the player is pretty much using anything that gets in his way to make Niko fly. There are some things in this video that i’ve not even thought of trying that i might try next time i play the game.
“Niko Bellic dreamed of more than just making it big in America, he believed that one day he would fly.”

Everyone was thinking what would be cut from the Australian version of Grand Theft Auto IV? Well details have come through that this version is indeed missing some things seen in the un-cut versions. According to this article the following is cut from the Australian version:
- When players pick up a prostitute in the Australian version, there is no way to select a ’service’ from the prostitute.
- The sexual intercourse sex animation has also been completely removed
- Players will only see the car bounce from a locked rear-view (in the un-cut version you can rotate the camera and get a clear view of the action).
- No blood pools will appear beneath a dead person after shooting or stabbing them to death (there are splatters, just no pools).
- When Niko or other NPCs are injured in the uncut version, light blood patches appear on their bodies which basically represent bruises/bullet wounds.
So there you have it. Special thanks to Mick over at palgn.com.au.
