GameInformer have the first details on EA’s second entry to their Dead Space series and here’s what the magazine have to say about the title.

organic, haphazardly constructed, long-term place that’s built around the remaining shards of one of Saturn’s moon-The first planet-crack ever. Like any real city it is not all built by one person. Some stuff was built up, and some areas, corporate areas, government areas, and public areas

The second game is set 3 years after the first game.

Horror title Dead Space will be turned into a movie directed by D.J. Caruso. Game creators Electronic Arts will produce the movie with Temple Hill partners Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey.

The producers, EA and Caruso have been listening to takes from prospective screenwriters, and once they set a writer and EA signs off on a creative direction, they will auction the property to studios. That will likely happen in early September.

Let’s hope this one isn’t a flop like most games that turn into movies.

For all those Dead Space fans out there, did you know that EA actually had a co-op mode running in for their horror title, Dead Space?

Glen Schofield, the General Manager for Visceral Games said:

We actually had co-op for about three/four months in Dead Space. In the original one, we had it running and we’re playing it and we had a little team developing it and it was actually pretty cool.

But what we realized is that we were sort of detracting from the single-player game at that point. We could use those guys who were on that team to make our game better and it was hard, you know, there was just technical challenges that were just getting in the way of making the single-player game.

How cool would co-op on Dead Space be? Maybe we could see something in Dead Space 2.

Dead Space, quite possibly the best horror title we’ve played in a very long time was originally planned for the first Xbox.

There is a video on YouTube that shows the game in action, i wonder why they moved it to next generation?

This video was shown during a presentation called “Creating Horror and Immersion with the Art of Dead Space” by Art Director of the game Ian Milham at the Animex, games and animation festival in 2009

deadspace3 505x284 Dead Space is good and scary!

The latest game i’ve been playing through is Dead Space, a game that will make you crap yourself! I’ve been looking for a game that will scare, i’ve tried other horror titles such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill, although scary but not as scary as Dead Space.

I didn’t think much of Dead Space when it was first announced and thought it would be just another horror game. I did some research to see what the reviewers gave the game and found that alot of sites were rating it very well. For example, on TestFreaks (who analyses most reviews) Dead Space has scored 8.4 out of 10 with great reviews coming from IGN (8.7 out of 10) and Gamespot (9.0 out of 10).

If you haven’t tried or played Dead Space, download the demo from the Playstation Store and see if you like it.

I’m already looking forwards to Dead Space 2.

Dead Space 2 coming?
Posted on December 10th, 2008 at 11:57 AM by Talk Playstation

Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello has been speaking to gamasutra.com about next year, what games to expect. There could be more Dead Space sequels in the works as John said:

Dead Space looks like a long-term big winner for us…

Does this mean that Dead Space did well and that they are thinking of making this into a big franchise? Could well be!

So you have Dead Space? Completed it yet? When you complete the game you will unlock the following:-

1. You get the level 6 Military Suit
2. All of the back story logs are unlocked
3. 50,000 credits (which get you half-way to being able to buy the Military Suit)
4. 10 Power Nodes
5. Impossible Mode is unlocked

Another reason to play through the game again? We think so.

dead space 505x283 Dead Space is rated 18 for a reason

A lot of parents have let their underage children play video games that are rated 18. Dead Space is rated 18 for a reason and this is what Keith Ramsdale, Vice President and General Manager of EA UK, Ireland and Nordics said.

Dead Space is a bold and often bloody gaming experience filled with tension and terror – this one isn’t for kids

We recognize the need to help British parents better understand the age rating system for video games, and 18 means a game is not appropriate for minors. But for adult gamers who crave gruesome action in a survival horror fiction, Dead Space promises to be a big hit!

Either way, parents will most likely ignore what is said just like they did with Grand Theft Auto IV.

If you bought Dead Space you will see that you have a couple of extras. These extras are indeed two demos you can access via the XMB. You get the games icon and then another icon called EA Demos.

deadspace demos Dead Space comes with two demos

The two demos are Battlefield: Bad Company and Burnout: Paradise. You can install the demos off the Blu-ray disc onto your hard drive so you don’t have to have the Dead Space disc in to play them.

In a news letter from EA Games, they let know that by pre-ordering Dead Space you’ll be able to get your hands on one of the limited and exclusive Art books. It is written by the Development Team and also includes some illustrations.

available1 m Dead Space gets its own special edition
The book contains details on the creation from concept through production. You will also get 3D glasses for the special 3D art only viewable with the glasses.

Though it seems you will only be able to get this special edition when you pre-order it from the EA Store.

There is nothing on this on the official blog. But on the forum they are talking about it and it’s being priced a steep $150 . It will probably include:

  • The Dead Space game
  • Special Ultra Limited Edition packaging
  • Dead Space Downfall Animated Movie (DVD)
  • Bonus content DVD
  • Exclusive lithograph art
  • 97-pg Dead Space art book written and illustrated by the development team (What we where talking about)
  • 160-pg Graphic novel
  • Ishimura crew patch

And is named the Dead Space Ultra Limited Edition.

Can somebody confirm this as I keep getting redirected to the Dutch EA Store which doesn’t have it.

Another good video of Dead Space. Just watch a lot of killing in space happen. The melee attacks look awesome and to be honest the whole game looks much scarier than other survival horrors on the horizon.

We’ve been posting a lot of Dead Space video lately simply because we feel it deserves the attention. It’s a great looking game.

Engineer Isaac Clarke is sent to repair the Ishimura, an immense mining ship, but he arrives to find a living nightmare—the ship is a floating bloodbath, the crew unspeakably mutilated and infected by an ancient alien scourge.
