Timesplitters 4 scan

Timesplitters 4 scan

For those of you who do not remember late last year there was some weird happening. Free Radical the studo responsible for the TimeSplitters Franchise was forced to close, but Crytek appeared from the horizon and swooped them up and transformed them into Crytek UK. Since then they’ve been working on Crysis 2.

Hoping the team would still be working on TimeSplitters 4 Crytek UK’s unofficial blog says they’re working on a FPS which isn’t TimeSplitters 4. The title which is currently in development is original and will have a multiplayer and single-player experience as from the TimeSplitters franchise. Following Karl Hilton words

This could possibly be bad news for the future of TimeSplitters 4 as new ideas are being put forward while TimeSplitters 4 is being left behind

But if people voice their desire for a TS and the demand is there, when the time comes, they’ll be ready for it.

It isn’t an official statement from Pandemic but from an employee of Rebellion who talked to Darkzero.

After some trouble with the game in development trouble arouse for Free Radical who was working on the title. During the holidays it was everywhere how Free Radical was in trouble and it would close it’s studio. Luckily that stories has had an happy ending thanks to Crytek. Pre-rendered footage hit the web and the game got a sort of hype.

With experiences of making the game Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron, many looked forward to what we could expect from Rebellion who took over the game. But it seems development of Aliens vs. Predator 3 has taken higher priority then Star Wars Battlefront 3. So The game returned to it’s creator Pandemic.

Since the game left Pandemic, they released Mercenaries 2 and Lord of the Rings: Conquest both not the quality games we were used to from them. Lord of the Rings: Conquest was even labelled ‘Battlefront in Middle Earth’. My impression, nothing near it. Not only did the graphics look poor in my opinion, the controllers and enemies all lacked. So by having back their mojo we hope Pandemic will return to it’s ‘former’ glory days and bring Star Wars Battlefront to another level.

At a GC in Asia, a keynote speech on the future of graphics in games, the president of Crytek goes on to say that the PlayStation 4 will be the “most important machine of the coming generation.”

During yesterday’s GC Asia keynote speech on the future of gaming graphics, the president and CEO of Crytek, Cevat Yerli emphasised several times how important the next generation of consoles (i.e. PS4 and Xbox 360 II: Electric Boogaloo) will be to a renaissance in gaming graphics that he predicts will arrive in 2011-2012. Not only will the company link its technology development with the console cycles, but it sees the PlayStation 4 as the most important machine of the coming generation, with Yerli stating that “frankly, we are linking ourself to what the PS4 will take up as [its hardware] position; that is the console makeup that will drive all our research, so we cannot wait to know what the [machine] will be about. That’s probably the most important missing information we have right now in our company.”

With the PlayStation 4 a still long ways off, few developers are already looking forward to the next generation of gaming consoles.

PC Play magazine has an English version with Cevat Yerli, the president of Crytek, known for developing the PC shooter, Crysis. One of the questions in the interview is the state of the PC gaming industry.

Yerli’s response was this:

“It is certainly. We are suffering currently from the huge piracy that is encompassing Crysis. We seem to lead the charts in piracy by a large margin, a chart leading that is not desirable. I believe that’s the core problem of PC Gaming, piracy. To the degree PC Gamers that pirate games inherently destroy the platform. Similar games on consoles sell factors of 4-5 more. It was a big lesson for us and I believe we wont have PC exclusives as we did with Crysis in future. We are going to support PC, but not exclusive anymore.”

We could see futurer Crytek games appear on Playstation 3 and hopefully a Crysis port if we are lucky! Stay tuned for more new as we get it.
