Wondering when you will be able to download and play the popular online shooter, SOCOM Confrontation? Wonder no further than this. SOCOM Confrontation will be available September 16th 2008. SOCOM will be available to download from the Playstation Store or you can go out and buy the Blu-Ray version. I’m not too sure whether this release date is for both versions or one of them.
Anyway, Sony will be launching a new website tomorrow to dedicate the SOCOM franchise. The address is http://www.socom.com/.

SOCOM Confrontation is a Playstation Network (psn) game where you control a soldier in third person, fighting it out online, alongside other soldiers. Read more about this game here. 1UP earlier this month revealed the may issue of EGM and it featured a story on SOCOM Confrontation. 1UP can reveal that you will have a list of differen’t special forces within the game.
They go on to say:
Joining a special force is now a perk associated with joining a clan; solo players will still be able to play as either commandos or mercenaries, but special forces (and their associated uniforms, gear, and weapons) will only be available to clan members.

Navy Sea, Air, and Land (SEALs, United States)
Special Air Service (SAS, United Kingdom)
Kommando Spezialkräfte (KSK, Germany)
Unidad de Operaciones Especiales (UOE, Spain)
1er Régiment de Parachutistes d’Infanterie de Marine (1er RPIMa, France)
