If you still havent bought Call of Duty 4 yet then your chance to buy it might be now. Call of Duty 4’s purchase price has gone down from $59.99 to $39.99 making this possibly the best budget game available. It won’t be cut forever though, it will last until the 14th of September 2008.

By checking retailers websites in Europe it seems that the Europeans will still have to pay full whack for the game. This price cut is only for North America.

The price cut is in effect from now.

[UPDATE] The price cut is only available at GameStop.

Infinity Ward has announced another double XP weekend for Call of Duty 4 which will commence on the 12th of September and will end on the 14th.

What is a double XP weekend? It’s basically a weekend where you can score a lot of points, all XP earned during online play is doubled.

I’m currently working on getting everything organized and together for an upcoming Xbox Live / PSN promotion we have coming up the weekend of Sept. 12th – 14th. Which isn’t this weekend, but next weekend.

I will have exact details on what it is in the near future but I have a gut feeling it’ll have Double XP attached to it for all those hungry for some power-leveling on Call of Duty 4.

Here’s a list of the most difficult Playstation 3 games we have experienced. While some games are easy to finish and complete, others are rock solid.

In no particular order:

  • Ninja Gaiden Sigma
  • Timeshift
  • Singstar
  • Crossfire
  • Gundam
  • The Darkness (on highest difficulty)
  • Call of Duty 4 (on highest difficulty)
  • Metal Gear Solid 4 on the hardest setting

The hardest on that list is probably Ninja Gaiden Sigma, i remember getting really frustrated playing that game.

Thats right, a double XP weekend is coming up for the brilliant shooter, Call of Duty 4. The double XP weekend will start on Friday morning and will last until Monday with a quote that says this:

“yes I know… we always say that, but we’re really going to cut it off at Monday this time… maybe”

So make sure your free this weekend to take advantage of this or…. you could be still playing Grand Theft Auto 4 like me.

“In addition, we will be tweaking all the playlist map rotations a bit so that the Variety Map Pack no longer shows up 2:1 to old maps. Therefore all maps (old and new) have an equal chance to come up in map rotation, so you won’t be seeing Chinatown pop up 8,000 times or any other new map over and over again.”

The Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack will hit Playstation Store on the 24th of April in the US and Europe. There were previous reports suggesting that the Map Pack will be released in Europe on May the 1st, not anymore though, so the Europeans don’t have to worry no more.

The Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Variety Map Packfor PS3 will be available on the PlayStation Network on Thursday April, 24 for both the US and Europe!

Additionally, since they won’t be coming out on two different days anymore all the Double XP / Play with the Devs goodness will be on the same day. Enjoy Double XP all weekend for both continents from 12:01 AM GMT on Friday, April 25 to 11:59 PM PDT on Sunday, April 27. We are also making Friday, April, 25 a “Play with the Devs” day. The Infinity Ward team will be playing online on Friday, April 25 from 11AM to 2PM PDT and from 5 PM to 8 PM PDT.

The price of the Map Pack is $9.99, so around £4.99 in the UK.

Robert Bowling, Director of Communications/Community Manager of Infinity Ward, has let the Playstation industry know that the variety map pack for the PS3 version of COD4 has been sent to Sony for certification. This means that we are a step closer to it’s release.

Bowling said:

“The Variety Map Pack DLC and patch required to add the maps to the game have went to certification at Sony last night,”

“We’re shooting for a worldwide simultaneous release, so all users can expect to have it at the same general time frame when it finishes certification. We’re working to see if we can secure a firm release date to pass along to you guys now, and I’ll post that as soon as I have it.”

Looks like a late April release date. Keep tuned in and check back for news on the release.
