Capcom classics will be making their way to the Playstation Store starting today.  Ryan McDougall, Marketing Coordinator of Capcom recently published a post over on the US PSBlog to basically promote the library of classics we could see on the store.

We’ve sorted through our archives and hand-selected the games that rocked the industry. All of these upcoming classics will be released over the PSN, and will be playable on your PSP.

Basically Capcom will be choosing the classic titles and you’ll be able to download and play them on your Playstation Portable. Capcom Classics Collection: Remixed is the first classic and will be released today.

Capcom serves up a collection of classic games in Capcom Classics Collection. You can relive more than 20 classic titles including 1942, Final Fight, Ghosts ‘n Goblins, and Commando. The games can be played in either one- or two-player mode. Capcom Classics Collection also includes bonus material, such as remixed soundtracks, game tips, and original artwork.

Following last weeks “threat” from Activision, Capcom has come out to support the PlayStation platform. On the US PlayStation Blog, worried PlayStation gamer commedie asked Shawn Baxter of Capcom if they are going to stop support the PS3/PSP in the future like activision is?

Shawn replied with the following

I don’t see that happening. Monster Hunter has sold over 8.5 million on the PSP worldwide

I hope this settles worried minds for now. And with the score at 1-1, let’s see if more will come out to speak and behind who they will stand.

sf4 cammy action 209x296 Street Fighter 4: No new characters to be expected
While there are already two downloadable content packs out with the first being “Championship Mode”, where players compete for points and ranking, along with the ability to record and vote on matches. The second DLC pack was five sets of alternate costumes for characters, and later on a value pack of all the skins.

In a recent interview with Gaming Union.net, Seth Killian Community Manager for Capcom told them the following

No plans for additional DLC right now. We want the core game to be a completely functional package, and character DLC could split the user-base

Though it’s not a definite no, for now we have to stay put.

flock album art
Members on the Capcom Unity forum requested if the Flock soundtrack could made available for them to listen to on their computer or portable music player. But the format of the songs is in .OOG so you will need a player like Winamp to play it.

The zip fine holds 14 songs, 11 of those which are used in-game and 3 of those which were used in trailers. An Album art cover is also included.

Most of you who got the game probably noticed that the scoreboard has been down. This was done by Capcom to clear the bug known as “0 rating”.
By exiting the games at least once over the next few days (before the weekend) should clear it of your PlayStation 3’s local cache. Then over the weekend they will turn it back on and hopefully this will exist no longer.

super street fighter 2 turbo hd remix 02 499x296 Street Fighter II HD patch available
As of yesterday a patch for Street Fighter II HD has been made available. Capcom was planning on releasing the patch of both the 360 and the PS3 at the same time. But it seems SCEE was too eager to drop the patch.

Please keep in mind, that for the folks in Europe, you might be experiencing some issues connecting because you will not be able to play anyone outside of the SCEE territory that hasn’t patched yet.

If you forgot what they have fixed in this patch check the list out:

  • After a number of games, the HUD will be corrupt. Yellow lifebars will freeze, the round counter flags will all be on, and the names will show more than one name
  • Frequent disconnects during VS transition screen. Often caused by selecting START color of character
  • Title crashes if user has a large friends list and tries to access the friends list
  • Rating being set to “0″ and from then on, rating remains at “0″. Once that patch goes live, we’ll reset all leaderboards/scoreboards
  • Vega sometimes causing desyncing, especially when using the fake wall dive
  • Lobby list containing full rooms instead of only rooms that users can enter
  • Zangief Super Motion not working on both sides and in both directions
  • During the start of the match, there is slight slowdown. This has been minimized as much as possible
  • If connecting to a ranked match through the quick match function, it is best out of 3 rather than best out of 5. It should always be best out of 5
  • Sending messages via XMB during a game causes a freeze
  • Players not added to “Players Met” list
  • Analog and D-pad can accept input at the same time
  • Player stats not reporting correctly

While CVG was writing about Resident Evil 5 shipping over four millions copies worldwide, Chart Track confirmed to them that the game is “in the process becoming the fastest selling game in the franchise and Capcom’s biggest ever launch”.

In it’s debut week in Japan, the game managed to sell over 400,000 copies. So the four millions is too big of a target? Maybe, but they probably decided to do this after discovering that the demo was downloaded over four millions times.

Thanks to the company’s proprietary engine, the MT Framework, Capcom was able to make Resident Evil 5 a multi-platform title, giving a vast number of players the opportunity to enjoy the game

A successful franchise? 40 Millions sold since 1996 should help make your opinion.
