Burnout Patch Update ComingYou thought Criterion was done with releasing FREE content for Burnout Paradise? Well think again. On February 6th they will be releasing a patch for PC and PS3 owners. You’ll have the In-Game store, instead of just using the traditional PlayStation Store, you’ll be able to access it in the game.
They’ve made some tweaks to the cars originally released pre updates. The cars handling has improved, speed has decreased, and are harder to crash.
During Stunt Run, the time clock moves at a slower pace. Some of events difficulties have been tweaked depending on the vehicle type you are using. Road Rage’s time added has been tweaked. After you hit the target amount of cars, you won’t have any time added.
Some of the visuals has improved. This’ll make it easier for those that want to burst through billboards, gates, and super jumps. Barrel Rolls have changed, meaning the car will auto correct itself. You still have the chance to pull off multiple ones.
Last but not least, they implemented the Restart feature.
This update will coincide with the Burnout Party Pack, which will be available for purchase on February 6th.

Burnout Paradise Party Pack UpdateWhat can we expect from Burnout Paradise next year? The next update for the game will be called Burnout Paradise Party where players are in one place – gathered around a single screen. I bet your wondering what this Party pack is all about… here’s 8 steps.
- Get together with up to 7 friends and gather round a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. Here you can see us lining up for a little Halloween-themed fun with Burnout Party. You can see the full session in our latest Crash TV video podcast – it’s The Halloween Special!
- Start Burnout Paradise and get the Party Pack update from the Store or Xbox Live
- Pause to admire the excellent new Party Edition visuals and atmosphere! We’ve overhauled not just the presentation screens but also the in-game visuals, which are now brighter and more colourful in recognition of Burnout’s new party theme.
- Select 8-player party and get ready for the action.
- It’s pass-the-pad, so you’ll only need one controller to play, no matter how many players are involved!
- The game selects a player at random and drops them into Paradise with a simple, fun challenge to complete.
- Pick up the winner and run around cheering / commiserate the loser
- Give it another go! Don’t forget, there are extra trophies and achievements available within this pack.
You’ll be able to purchase this awesome premium Burnout Paradise content from February 2009.

Burnout Paradise load timesYou can buy Burnout Paradise from either the shop or off the Playstation Store. If you havent got Burnout Paradise yet but thinking of getting it you might want to compare the two versions. MTV has posted a useful article that compares the two version including the loading times.
1) The downloadable version is only 3.3 GB, including the add-on content, which means that a pre-installed (and presumably compressed) “Burnout Paradise” wouldn’t even come close to filling up a standard DVD, let alone a 25 GB Blu-Ray. It’s no shocker that the game isn’t, say, 10GB, because it had to have been designed to be small enough to fit on a DVD. The neat thing is that, thanks to being able to see the file sizes of content available on PSN, we now know exactly how big “Burnout Paradise” really is.
2) Your save file won’t be compatible with the $30 downloadable version of the game now offered on the PlayStation Network. If, like me, you’re converting to the PSN version, you’ll be starting your “Paradise” career from scratch.
2) Load times on the PSN version are a wee bit shorter: 70 seconds from booting the game up from the PS3’s cross media bar to being able to enter the loaded game vs. 82 seconds when booting with the Blu-Ray version. (Remember, that this is the open-world racer’s only loading sequence.)
4) You don’t get a discount on the PSN version if you own the Blu-Ray version. But you do no longer have to use a disc, of course.
The loading time from the XMB to the game is around 82 seconds on Blu-Ray while the PSN version takes 70 seconds. Not a massive difference.
I always prefer my games on disc so i’d go with the Blu-Ray version.
