The future is looking bright. It took a while, some rumours, maybe even the effect of a petition. But Fallout 3 on the PlayStation 3 is finally getting some downloadable content from Bethesda. In an official press release they said that they had been working on it for a while to implement for the PlayStation 3.
“Operation: Anchorage” will come out late June, with “The Pitt” and “Broken Steel” expansions following weeks later. We’ll get a more exact date in the future.
In order to play these upcoming DLC’s Bethesda will release a update for the PS3.
They also announced two new DLC’s we can expect. This will be “Point Lookout” which will be available after the release of the first three DLC’s. Followed by “Mothership Zeta”. Both will cost $9.99 .
In “Point Lookout” you will explore a massive new swampland area filled with new quests and content. In “Mothership Zeta” you’ll be abducted and find out if you’re tough enough to survive.

Bethesda: PS3 owners out of luck for now
fallout3_15-07-08_04
While the PC and Xbox 360 owners can enjoy three upcoming downloadable contents packs for Fallout 3, PS3 owners are left behind. Last time I check there were three petitions for Bethesda to release DLC’s for the PlayStation 3 as well. No luck so far. But now PS3 owners are kicked in the chin again.
Many Fallout 3 players complained about not being able to continue the game after completing the main story. Bethesda responded and through the upcoming ‘expansions’ players will now be able to continue to roam the wasteland after *spoiler*spoiler*. PC and Xbox owners that is. MTV Multiplayer contacted Bethesda about this also being added to the PS3 version and they got a response from Fallout 3 producer, Todd Howard.
Not at this time, no
So is there still hope for PS3 owners to complete all unfinished side quests. We hope there is but time will tell while we wait for change.

500 different endings for Fallout 3?In Bethesda’s upcoming RPG, Fallout 3, there is to be 500 different variations to end the game. Speaking with TotalVideoGames.com, Pete Hines speak about Fallout 3. The game is to last around 20-100 hours depending on what you do, but 500 endings?
TVG: Err… no, just end states, as in the final scenes. Is there a good and an evil ending, for example?
Oh, no, it’s a whole mix. I mean the number of variations is over 500, but that’s of all the different permutations you can have of each different variable and what you did at each point. I don’t know how many of those there are (I haven’t gone back to look), but it takes into account any number of things you’ve done from early in the game, right up to when the game ends – it takes into account all of that stuff.
Looks like Fallout 3 will have plenty of replay value.

Fallout 3 has been refused classification in Australia. The Office of Film and Literature Classification has given an RC to Fallout 3, developed by Bethesda. It is now illegal to sell Fallout 3 in Australia.
No one yet knows as to what made Fallout 3 get the ban. Kotaku think it maybe something to do with drugs and gore within the game.
“It’s not known at this stage if the ban was for drug use, as the original rumour states, or gore as I was predicting.”
The game will probably be edited and resubmitted after the drugs and gore have been toned down.

Wondering what will be in store for us Playstation fans at this years E3 event?

Fallout 3 release date announcedFallout 3 has been given a release date finally. And that release date is October 2008, no specific date, just October.
“According to a recent Red Ant release schedule Fallout 3 will be within our mutated grasp by October, 2008. Expectations for this new game are understandably high due to the cult status popularity of the original Fallout titles, and the fact that this third iteration is being handled by super developer Bethesda, whose last title was the epic RPG odyssey The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.”
This is the Australian release date by the way so i’d expect the same for Europe and America.

For those of you keeping your eye on Bethesda’s upcoming survival horror games Fallout 3 there is a Collector’s Edition that will be released with the following content.
- Vault Boy Bobblehead: Enjoy your very own Vault Boy with this collector’s item direct from Vault-Tec.
- The Art of Fallout 3: This hardcover book features nearly 100 pages of never-before seen concept art and commentary from Bethesda Game Studios artists.
- The Making of Fallout 3: Get an exclusive, inside look at Bethesda Game Studios and the team behind the game with this special DVD.
- Vault-Tec Lunch Box: The entire package comes in a fully customized metal lunchbox.
The Collector’s Edition will be released on the same day as the normal edition.

The Playstation 3 version of Fallout 3 will not have a mandatory install. Recent games to feature a mandatory install include Grand Theft Auto IV and Haze, but Fallout 3 will not have one.
TheGameReviews.com asked whether or not Fallout 3 would require a Mandatory Install for the Playstation 3 and Bethesda, developer of Fallout 3 responded with this:
“We do not do that, no. We do the put you know, put the stuff down there that we need to be there, we can stream it on in and out of there but we do not do the ‘we need ten minutes of your time.’”
And they explained the situation further:
“We will cache the same way on both (Xbox 360 and PS3) we basically just like everybody you know if you have a hard drive, it does this.”
So that pretty much clears everything up!
