Namco Bandai’s fighter Soul Calibur IV was released in North America but which version had the best start? The Playstation 3 version of the game led over the Xbox 360 version in launch sales at Amazon.com on Tursday morning.

The PS3 version was ranked at number 9 while the X360 version came in at number 11. What’s spiked this then? Could it be the exclusive character? Could it be that the game runs better on the PS3?

The Playstation 3 version of Namco Bandai’s fighting em up, Soul Calibur 4 doesn’t support trophies. It has an in-game achievement system called required honor. Basically when you unlock something, it will pop up on the screen notifying you that you’ve unlocked what you’ve just achieved. To view the achievement you need to head over to the meseum at the battle records.

Also, there is no support for custom in-game music.

The Playstation 3 version of Soul Calibur 4 doesn’t have a rumble option for the DualShock 3 controller. A TalkPlaystation.com member has sent in an email to say that he got the game early (breaking the street date) and simply told us that he looked in every possible menu when he realised there is no rumble in the game. Apparently an update was released on Friday and that didn’t add rumble support either.

Lets hope Namco Bandai will add rumble support in a future update or something.

UK based Magazine, Play has posted a review of Namco Bandai’s fighting game, Soul Calibur 4. They love the game, one of the best fighting games but one thing they said made me think hmmmmm.

They mentioned that the Playstation 3 version of the game looks better that the Xbox 360 version.

On a decent 720p TV Soul Calibur IV is one of the best looking games on the PS3, and for once better looking than the 360 version, and is the ideal thing to put on when a mate pops round.

I’ve not played either version but according to Play, its better looking on the PS3. Click here to read the full review.

For those of you that wants to see something in Soul Calibur IV will be left dissapointed because there will be no bare boobs or bums in this game. The BBFC has deemed Soulcalibur IV worthy of a 12 rating in the UK for its “moderate fantasy violence”.

Looking at the BBFC report:

“The game also contains some female warrior characters with exaggerated ‘curvy’ figures accentuated by skimpy costumes. They are presented in a comic book manner and although the game allows characters’ costumes to be customised, the player is not able to create a character with full breast or buttock nudity.”

According to ps3hyper, the Playstation 3 is to get its own ‘Tales of’ game. Based on this picture from a Japanese magazine:

Tales of PS3

This new Tales of game is supposed to take advantage of the PS3’s power. This larger scan shows Tales of Symphonia: Knight of Ratatosk, Tales of Vesperia and a mysterious upcoming PS3 Tales of game.

Tales of PS3 2

The Playstation 3 needs more RPG’s and if this rumor is true then its all good news for PS3 RPG fans. Expect something at E3.
