Silent Hill: Homecoming 07

Silent Hill: Homecoming will come out edited to still reach the Australian gamers. Atari went out on it’s own to edit the game and re-submit it.

The Australian Board of Classififation let Edge know that the game has been granted the MA15+ rating, the highest Down Under. Thus clearing the way for it hit stores soon. The game was previously rejected after concerns about the amount of violence and and depictions of torture

The question remains, how much different will this edited version be compared to it’s US counterpart.

playstation home logo3 Finally we can go Home again released soon
After almost two years and three possible release periods, Home will finally be available to the public from December 11th 2008.

SCEE let know that tomorrow, everybody who has registered to the Playstation Network will be able to download Home from the Playstation Store. There was much speculation of when it would be available and in the latest interviews with people from SCE/Sony/Playstation only increased them.

Kazuo Hirai was proud to say,

PlayStation Home is truly a promising network community service on the PlayStation platform, made possible with the powerful combination of PS3’s overwhelming computational power and PlayStation Network that covers many countries around the globe. We are committed to providing PS3 users with exciting gaming experiences with PlayStation Home and together with our partners and users, expand the new world of interactive entertainment as we move forward.

open media day 11 Finally we can go Home again released soon
We’ve heard about different kind of places you can visit like the lately announced ‘Clubs’ or event halls like the Tokyo Games Show, but also special spaces dedicated to certain games. From the start you can expect to have access to a Far Cry 2 space.
Sony has aimed for such game inspired environments so that it allows people to discuss the specific games, plan strategies and access content and clues that will enhance the gaming experience.
Expect more spaces like this to come soon from games like Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune™, Warhawk™, Motorstorm and SOCOM (we say this one will be available once the game hits Europe) and even other games.
SCEE has focused on bringing us more of these engaging environments together with Electronic Arts, UBISOFT, Midway, Sega and Atari that will provide users with an on-going gaming experience.
open media day 05 Finally we can go Home again released soon
We already know that Red Bull had it’s own thing coming in Home but joined by other brands like Fashion leader Diesel, furniture designers Ligne Roset, Paramount Pictures, video content providers Hexus TV and Eurogamer they are one of the first to provide us with content once the Open Beta launches.
Expect to Dress 2 kill your avatar in Diesel clothing ranging in prices from free of charge to €1.50. Or do you rather want to show of your in-door decorating skills by furnishing your apartment, Summer Cottage or any other estate with exclusive Ligne Roset furniture. Maybe even be hired by somebody else.
diesel front Finally we can go Home again released soon
To take the PlayStation Home Theatre to another level, Sony teamed up with various content providers to enhance the cinematic experience. Expect to see lifestyle technology programming from Hexus TV. Gaming content from Eurogamer and exclusive film content from Paramount Pictures (Maybe Sony Pictures as well in the future).
Paramount Pictures will be using Home to promote it’s latest movies like the highly anticipated film Watchmen to PlayStation®Home residents. You will also be able to get a selection of virtual Watchmen merchandise like T-Shirts with the smiley face logo, Doomsday clocks and character statues. Expect to see these items in (begin) 2009, ahead of an exclusive Q & A event where cast and filmmakers will meet selected press and competition winners fans within the Watchmen themed environment.
So this all seems like good news, but we still wonder how much content will actually be released in Open Beta from the start. With content we mainly mean clothing and furniture. The small store update that was received last week for people who were able to get into the Extended Closed Beta was nice acording to some but still not enough.
Will we be able to play music from our hard disks in our apartment or watch a clip on the TV in you Summer Cottage home. We don’t know yet, but coming tomorrow most questions will be answered, and then the judgement over Home’s potential will really start.

Get ready and be prepared to an experience that will take your Playstation 3 console to a whole other level.

No body saw this coming but Atari has jumped right into the MMO market with big upcoming titles like Star Wars Online and Champions Online (which is coming to consoles near you in 2010) by acquiring Cryptic Studios.

The acquisition of Cryptic Studios brings to Infogrames an outstanding creative organisation, with a proven track-record of success in the fast-growing MMO category. “Cryptic’s success is founded on leading-edge technology and the vision of a seasoned executive management team.

The financial figures for this move are $ 26.7 million in cash and an maximum earn-out of $ 27.5 million to be made up of cash and Infogrames shares. Additionally the performance-related bonus could see as much as USD 20 million paid in cash or stock if Champions Online and Star Trek’s 2010-11 revenues outperform set undisclosed targets, payable in August 2010 and May 2011.

former Sony exec and currently CEO of Cryptic, John Needham said

We share a common vision with Atari and their leadership team. With our game development and online platform technology skills, we’re very excited about the opportunities that this unique combination with Atari creates. I am committed to helping Atari grow into a leading online game company and look forward to being part of the team

Very criticized when it was released on PlayStation 2, Wii, Xbox 360 and PC, the last Alone in the Dark had been postponed at the last moment on PlayStation 3. Good news, Atari has announced that this version will undergo some improvements in terms of gameplay. It’s the least we can hope so late.

As you know, the Playstation 3 version of Alone in the Dark has been delayed. The horror title has been delayed until November 2008. Translated from xgn.nl:

Today, Atari announced that the PlayStation 3 version of Alone in the Dark until november this year will be in stores.

Although the game even earlier on October 31 this year would appear, was announced today by Atari that the game until november will be placed in stores. A specific date is unfortunately not yet.

This means that the game nearly five months later than the Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 2 and PC versions will appear. Perhaps the first Atari wants many mistakes that we still aantroffen in the Xbox 360 version to remove, for a perfect game for PS3 owners to put on the shelves.

These may also be that the extra content that was already announced in april, yet standard in the PS3 version will sit down and at this time still must be tested and expanded.

We will come back around november. Until that time, you can visit our gamepagina or imagery as videos and screenshots of Alone in the Dark. In doing so interested on our Xbox 360 review can read or view.

Could the PS3 version be treated with extra content?

Here is an interview with the producer of Alone in the Dark, Nour Polloni. Polloni explains that Alone in the Dark has been in development for more than 4 and a half years. Polloni also explains that every gamer will be able to finish Alone in the Dark due to the “chapter selection” feature that allows gamers to skip to the next section or chapter if you are currently stuck. One thing though is that Phil Harrison in his interview we posted yesterday he said that you won’t be able to just skip right to the end of the game which is a good thing to be honest.

Check out the interview.
