Sony Charging Monthly/Annually For MAG?
Sony’s new massive multiplayer shooter, MAG, may have you paying monthly or annual rates to play the game. According to an e-mail sent to PlayStation Underground members, asking members about payment plans for MAG.
Today I received a survey from Sony Playstation Underground and it seemed to be related MAG. The survey asked at least 15 questions related to Payment plans for the game. Seems Sony’s plan is to charge a yearly or monthly fee, while also one time fees for content downloads. It also mentioned hosting partners being EA, Sony, and Activision. So turns out not all games on PSN are going to be free after all. I wish I would have taken some screen captures of this email. Playstation Underground members check your email for a letter called “Short Survey. Big New Game.” More info from the email below. Stay tuned for more details.
How do you guys think of this if Sony goes through with this?

I am not opposed to this. Considering the scope of this game (256 players, 8 players per squadron etc…)I guess it has to come at a cost. I just hope this isn’t a sign to come for the future of PSN. I mean the only real advantage it has over Xbox Live is that it is free right?

Sony keeps stressing that PSN will remain free. With the MMO’s they will not guarantee, because they’re going to need some kind of payment in order to keep the servers running.
I’ve no objection to paying a fee for the game, as long as it’s good enough.
Given the scope of MAG, it may well require powerful, dedicated servers to keep the speed up - and if that’s the case, that money has to come from somewhere. Sony already give us a hell of a lot for free, and I guess there’s only so much they can do for that.
As long as the game is worth it, and the cost isn’t extortionate, I’d be happy to pay.
Better call it LAG cause that the only thing is gonna be in this Fiasco.

I don’t think there will be lag you know. I think Sony will sort something out for this otherwise they wouldn’t make the game if it was too laggy.

LAG will depend on the user, for example it only affects the player and not the whole game. Resistance uses this.

Completely agree. As long as the servers are up to it, there’s no reason the game will suffer from lag, other than a users own connection/ISP.
HAHHAHA, I laugh at this. Sony is probably going to charge for the game. If they start charging for other games to , thats it, Sony can go kiss my butt. If that happened, Im buying the next Xbox and not buying PS4

They charge a fee to play on their MMO’s. I don’t see a reason to object on a fee for this game. The servers are going to get stressed out with 256 player battles. They won’t be charging any other games.
You know you’d still have to pay an annual fee for Xbox Live if you wanna play online.
Sony won’t be charging for The Agent which looks promising.

So they chose not to charge a fee for Agency? I know the DC Universe they’ll have a fee.

At first it was going to be free, then they were debating on fees. I guess that it will be free. I’ll try and get an answer.

Drats and double drats if we have to pay.
fair enough, because what you need to remember is there are going to be alot of servers running this game. I’m happy with it just as long as they dont charge a ridiculous amount then its ok like 50p a month or something is alright considering its just one game thats only £6 annually.

I think it all depends how good the game is. I mean, if its worth paying for it should be a good game. I imagine they will be doing a beta for this.

I imagine so, they’re gonna have to do a beta test for the game. To see how the servers can stack up with allot of players.
