Some new Alpha Protocol details

New details of Alpha Protocol have emerged, an upcoming third-person action RPG, developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Sega.

This game looks pretty good and is a one to keep your eye on if you like secret agent games like James Bond.
Alpha Protocol is not a first person shooter, its a third-person RPG set in a world of spy and secret agents rather than fantasy.

“Both main and side missions will have more than one way of being completed. While this is nothing new to games, Obsidian has but their own spin on things. The different possibilities will depends on how a player has made their choices up until that point.”

Design Producer Nathan Davis says:

“In particular, a lot of the little thing you do will show up in the end game,”

“It will show up depending on who you ally with and what factions are friendly with you, they may come in and help or hinder your ability to finish the end mission.”

Weapons in Alpha Protocol are what you expect them to be and Alpha Protocol will have no shortage. You can play through the game with just hand to hand combat but chances are you will run into a nice rifle.

Executive Producer Chris Parker says:

“He will also have close-quarters hand-to-hand combat, which can be lethal,”

“And of course, gadgets,”

Lastly lets talk about the unique dialog system as Parker explains:

“The new system is an evolution of the systems going way back on games that we have worked on. Everything from (Planescape) Torment to Icewind Dale through KOTOR 2 and Neverwinter (Nights) 2,”

“It’s becoming more personal and the production values are improving.”

Basically Alpha Protocol will use an evolved version of what they used in Neverwinter Nights 2. I can imagine this game looking a lot like Mass Effect.

If your waiting for a kick ass action RPG this is the one to wait for. Read more over at Game Informer.
