Resistance 2 gameplay video and interview

Jeuxvideo.com has posted information regarding Resistance 2. Its pretty old information but the video is certainly new to me.

First of all, watch the video and the information will follow.

Ted Price, President of Insomniac Games, talks about this suite of Resistance, improvements to the graphics engine and the multiplayer modes.

“Today the PlayStation Day, we unveiled the four main aspects of Resistance 2. This is the solo campaign mode, co-op online mode and the competitive part.

We created the site myresistance.net “to accompany the addition of many social components to our game Just the way that you see on sites like Facebook.

We also announced today the game mode “battle to 60. This mode offers a very organized where small squads clash. It is much more structured than traditional Deathmatch and Capture the flag. Small groups of soldiers face in trying to accomplish goals to win the final victory. All this is administered by our system dynamic management objectives, which ensures that each player knows permanently what he has to be done. The result is a game much more able to meet the newcomers in Deathmatch mode or in other multiplayer modes more anarchic. Specifically, we separated the two camps to 5 small groups of 5 soldiers. Each of them will be opposed to a given unit opponent, whether for the defence of a piece of land or obtaining a goal. Even if the parts are played by 60 players, you end up knowing the 5-recurring opponents you will face in the conquest of your goals.

With Resistance 2, we focused on a more extensive interaction between history and the gameplay. The scenario begins the return of the hero on American soil where he will be responsible for repelling the invasion chimérienne hitting both coasts of the USA at the same time.

We had a lot of returning players who have spent time on the first opus. All we indicated what they wanted to see in a suite if ever we were doing one. We have carefully listened to all the fans. It is obvious that the scenario was an important aspect for them. The players wanted to know more about the hero Nathan Hale and Chimères. So we worked with more attention to the scenario game But our greatest challenge was to provide a maximum variety in this suite. And not only in the single player mode which includes a multitude of new enemies, new weapons and new environments, but across the title in general. That is why we have integrated a new cooperative mode to 8 playable online, and the competitive mode.

Since the release of Resistance 1, we have never ceased to improve our engine. I think the most obvious evidence of these improvements is in Ratchet & Future Clanck that we released last year. The technological leap forward there is really blatant. Since then, we have furthered our technology consistently. I think there will be the same technological gap between Ratchet & Clank Future and Resistance 2 as between Resistance 1 and the same game (Ratchet and Clank)”

This is asking a lot of my highschool french, and there’re probably other mistakes in the translation too, but I think the last line should read “I think there will be the same technological gap between Ratchet & Clank Future and Resistance 2 as between Resistance 1 and the same game (Ratchet and Clank)”.
Ie, Resistance 1 -> Ratchet and Clank -> Resistance 2.
And if that’s true, then hurrah! Can’t wait!
