The Playstation 3 has the potential to better the graphics than it’s rival, Xbox 360, a Volition developer said.
Red Faction: Guerrilla producer:
finding some of the challenges of the PS3 beneficial.
Videogamer.com has spoken to Jeff Carroll, associate producer of Red Faction at THQ’s Gamers Day in San Francisco, California. Jeff mentioned that although the PS3 is harder to develop for, developers will get their head round it and figure it out and find a very powerful system underneath.
Jeff Carrol went on to say:
We’ve got the PS3 running at a similar frame rate to the 360. We’re finding some of the challenges of the PS3 beneficial. We feel like we’re doing rather well with the PS3.
Speaking in more detail regarding the PS3 version Carrol mentioned:
We have been getting the physics system, the Havok system and our own proprietary destruction system running on the SPUs, as well as our animations. We’re seeing quite a decent speed improvement now that we’ve effectively got that running on the SPUs instead of the CPUs.
This is just a snippet of what Jeff Carrol has to say about PS3 being the more powerful system. Read the full article at videogamer.com.

where does Carrol ever mention that the PS3 version will have better graphics? all he says is that it’s more difficult to develop for the PS3..
If you go to the videogamer article: http://www.videogamer.com/news/05-04-2008-7949.html and scroll down to where it says: “When asked whether it is possible to achieve better graphics on the PS3 compared with the Xbox 360″ you will see Carrol’s reply.
This is a silly reason for fan boys to flame up. Oh course the Ps3 has more potential. It is just rarely harnessed or understood. It is so funny to look at yahoo answers and see the “ps3 is supreme” comments on graphics. Honestly, they are so similar that they nearly was each other out.
Yes, the PS3 has the potential, but it wont ever be that huge of a difference. I was rather bummed just to see that RE5 didnt show more PS3 horsepower. Games like Killzone look fantastic, but it is in the texture animations and subtle details that really make it stand out. It doesn’t blow the xbox out of the water. It just looks a little more clean and surgical. Truth be told, I love the game and love my PS3. But, getting past the FAN BOY stage of my life, I really see little graphical differences between systems… Time will hopefully widen that gap…
Lol. I think you meant “wash” out. But yea. I agree. Ps3 has the power but is bottlenecked with its small bus size among other things. It has the potential, but only has a few games that look marginally better. I have both systems and at least my ps3 doesnt burn up. then again, recent stats by some research company was saying the newest xbox 360’s (with Jasper motherboards) are at a 3% fail rate. lol. bout time
Not this quote from the same article: Carroll added that the game is “very much” pushing the PS3, “both in terms of memory and processing power”. And along with saying that he noted that the ps3 is currently running at about the same rate as the xbox. he also added that the xbox pushes polygons really well. lol silly fanboys. PS3 DOES have weaknesses!!! lol. if you cant deal with it then get a Wii and accept being the suckiest graphics of the bunch.
