PSP Firmware 5.0 to Have Direct PSN Access?

Back in September when we reported that the Japan audience will be able to access the PSN directly. Well it looks like that Europe and North America may be getting the feature also.
According to French site PSPGen (translated by Exophase), the new functionality will arrive with Firmware 5.0. You can also look forward to an RSS component update capable of reading text-based articles (rather than just audio, video or images).
It would be a really nice feature to have on the PSP.
