Not impressed at all about subscription plans. I'm already part of the old generation that likes to buy stuff and play on my own terms, not just when somebody else allows it. We've seen serious abuse of PSN downloadable content from (most recently) Dragon Age and numerous others, so what's to stop subscription services sprouting up all over the place for the most mundane things.

Given the price increase Activision smashed people with for Modern Warfare 2, it wouldn't surprise me if they were an early adopter of "special" online modes for subscribers.

It's tempting to retreat and disable the internet connection completely (though the console tries to do that by itself most days anyway), but there are still the delights of online gaming in Uncharted 2 and occasional downloadable content or games at a reasonable price, like Wipeout HD and Super Stardust, possibly the best examples of PSN value for money.
