Our friends over at the TheSixthAxis have spotted a new rumor regarding the next firmware update now believed to be firmware version 3.36 instead of firmware version 2.4.
“Don’t get too excited if you see a new firmware notification on your PS3 in the next few days. A minor update (2.36) is set for release shortly.”
So don’t get too excited it will probably be just a minor update that will fix some issues with a few games.

having a problem i cant sign into the playstation network due to this update…..it says that i need it and as i go to download it. it gets to about 20 percent and says that an error has occured during the download opperation. a connection to the server cannot be established. (80710723)….help

hi i installed this update (2.36) there is no difference in the gaming experiance
Jeremy, i’ve not heard of that problem. Restart the PS3 and try again, report back if the problem is still there.
ean, the update has upped the friends list capacity from 50 to 100, so you can now have 100 friends on your list.
i get an error every time i attempt to download and install this update. “An error has occurred (8002F997)” is the message i get when using both the playstation network and the update saved to a flash drive. in both instances, the download to my ps3 gets to 68% every single time. any help, suggestions, or have you ever even heard of this issue because i haven’t been able to find anything on it?
Not really heard of this issue. Best bet is to contact Sony about this. Sorry.
nevermind i was away for a week, and on my return (today)it worked perfectly. i guess last week i was just having some connection issues
Well i am unable to play onlinr until i get the latest system update and i get the same erro message about connecting to the server, but it happens at various percentages (over wireless and via network cable), what the hell….?
