We reported before that Red Alert 3 could be cancelled. Well it seems now that it has been put on hold officially according to PR Manager for EA, Jonathan Goddard.

Goddard said:

“We can confirm that the development of Red Alert 3 for PS3 has been put on hold. EALA is focusing resources on development for PC and Xbox 360 which will ship simultaneously this autumn.”

Could the PS3 version get some special treament when it is released after the 360 and PC version?

Saints Row 2, developed by Volition and published by THQ should be released on the 14th of October 2008. It looks like a cartoony version of Grand Theft Auto IV and below are 5 new screenshots. For more information about this game check out the Wiki article.

Codemasters have revealed a new patch for Race Driver: GRID and below are the list of changes. The changes are for all versions of the game unless specified. The list is that big so its best if you click though to read the list of changes.

Here is a video that IGN have posted that basically takes the rip out of Grand Theft Auto IV. The video is kinda funny that features some moments seen in GTA IV.

Saints Row 2 vs. GTA IV

It seems that Metal Gear Online will be region locked. If you translate this Konami-Asia page it reads:

“The server connected MGO notice”
The game itself is a server in Japan. Whether in English or Japanese.

However, the purchase of the licensed importer of the same players, the Japanese version of the English players and players can not Versus.

If you need to play games with your friends, you must purchase the same language version.

Not a licensed importer of commodities, have the opportunity to be well connected.

Moreover, we will not provide any assurance and have the opportunity unable to provide any services.

There could be a patch or an update in the future to allow multi regions to play against each other. This happened in Call of Duty 4.

There are reports saying that Electronic Arts upcoming real time strategy is cancelled. Many Playstation 3 owners first feared this when a walkthrough trailer for only listed the game for the Xbox 360 and PC.

Speaking to CVG, Electronic Arts have stated that this is just rumors and speculation at the moment.

So don’t worry people, it will most likely come to the PS3, they are probably having technical difficulties.

Thats right, a double XP weekend is coming up for the brilliant shooter, Call of Duty 4. The double XP weekend will start on Friday morning and will last until Monday with a quote that says this:

“yes I know… we always say that, but we’re really going to cut it off at Monday this time… maybe”

So make sure your free this weekend to take advantage of this or…. you could be still playing Grand Theft Auto 4 like me.

“In addition, we will be tweaking all the playlist map rotations a bit so that the Variety Map Pack no longer shows up 2:1 to old maps. Therefore all maps (old and new) have an equal chance to come up in map rotation, so you won’t be seeing Chinatown pop up 8,000 times or any other new map over and over again.”

Not a bad update considering the Battlefield: Bad Company demo that includes singleplayer and multiplayer experiences.

The long awaited Playstation Home will be coming this year but in Beta form. Senior director of PlayStation Network, Susan Panico said that:

Home’s “rollout will be similar to Gmail,” describing what will launch this year as an “open, working beta.”

It will be released this year but in a Beta process and you will get to play.

Are you waiting for Afrika? We now have a release date for it and that release date is set for August the 28th 2008.

“Players will play games in a photography enthusiasts, in the vast African land taken various wild animals. The game can take the jeep, hot-air balloon, and other modes of transport, and animal life fragments and photographs included in the database, to create their own Museum of Zoology.”

According to ps3bloggen.se they have received good information on Sony’s upcoming horror title, Siren Blood Curse’s release schedule.

Siren Blood Curse will be released in four instalments on the Playstation Store. It will have 12 chapters in total, three chapters per instalment. Currently there is no price information on how much these instalments will cost but i’m guessing that for all the chapters put together it will cost like a full game.

Anyway the planned instalment release dates are as follows:

1. 17th of July 2008
2. 24th of July 2008
3. 31st of July 2008
4. 7th of August

This is the release schedule for Europe.
