Next step for Ratchet and Clank

Insomniac, the team behind the Ratchet and Clank series has hinted where the series is heading. The series is heading in a new direction as Ryan Schneider, the Community Director of Insomniac Games, said the following:
I think the next step for Ratchet and Clank is simply getting it out into the mainstream, which is what we’re working to do. And I think that it’s been ready for that kind of exposure for a long time now.
Are you worried about this move?

Not worried at all.
Although I’ve been enjoying A Crack In Time, it does feel very ’samey’ now.
But then again, it’s a basic platformer with guns, and the gameplay is hardly complicated. I feel it’s pretty ‘mainstream’ as it is, so I don’t really see what they’re getting at.
Certainly, more information is required.
