New peripheral is the break apart controller?

The first rumors regarding this new Wii like controller appeared a couple of months ago and many people want to know more information and whether these rumors are true. If you head over to JustPlay, they have listed a ‘Wireless Handgun’ named JPG-9003 PS3 2.4GHz Wireless Handgun.

The product features are as follows:

  • Compatible with PS3 console
  • Supports all PS3 gun fighting games
  • Supports multi-loop signals without any interference for many
    players playing simultaneously
  • Force signal connect
  • Combines PS3 controller with gun stand for enhancing the operation
  • Can be easily dismantled to use as PS3 wireless controller
  • 2 x AAA alkaline batteries can provide at least 10 hours power continuously
  • Working distance  is up to 10m
  • Auto scan function between the gun and receiver

Here’s what the gun could look like:

As you can see it breaks apart and maybe this confirms that THIS rumor is true about the ‘break apart’ controller.

“According to gamesindustry.biz, Sony Computer Entertainment is working on a new controller for the Playstation 3. This new controller is supposed to feature a break apart aspect to it for example, it will break into two separate units, each of which contains an accelerometer for ‘Wiimote-like’ motion-sensing functionality.”

“Sony Computer Entertainment will therefore hope that, with the ongoing development of the PlayStation Network, the success of Blu-ray as the de facto next generation standard of video, the gradual roll-out of Home later in the year and the release of additional high definition titles over time, it will be able to overwhelmingly position the PS3 as the best all-round home entertainment unit on the market.”

If anything we are sure to be shown something at E3.
