Metal Gear Solid 4 sells 1.3 million units on day one
Thats right, the argubly the best game of the year has sold nearly 1.4 million units on day one!
“First day sales of Metal Gear Solid 4 reach 1.3 million units worldwide, PS3 hardware boosted 180% in America”
Over 350k were solid in Japan alone and over 400k in America.
“The American release of Metal Gear Solid 4, combined with the $100 Playstation 3 giftcard offer at retailer Walmart resulted in a 180% increase of Playstation 3 hardware sales.”
This is great news for Sony and Konami because the install base of the Playstation 3 will increase quite a bit and hopefully the waiting to upgrade PS2 owners will finally make the move to upgrade.

C’mon! How could MGS4 NOT sell at least 1 million in one day. Snakes end is like the first popular character EVER in gaming who ended his life on a game. That’s like if Halo 3 had Chief dying… That would’ve sold twice as much, and a bunch of Halo 1 and 2. I personally love the Halo series from what I heard, and if chief actually died then, I would’ve bought an XboX just to see how everything went.
