The Japanese Playstation Home beta opens today providing you follow the these instructions. There is a banner on the front page of the Japanese Playstation Store, you need to download this banner and you’ll then be in the Home beta.
The banner weighs in at 277KB and you must download this before the 11th of August 2008.

Also according to a few, downloading the theme through the playstation store also enters you on the possible beta tester list
