Is Sony ready to launch 2.4?
Is Sony ready to launch firmware version 2.4 tomorrow? What i mean by this is that almost every Playstation 3 owner will be up tomorrow awaiting the release of 2.4 as this is the most anticipated and talked about firmware update so far.
Lets hope we don’t bring down the Playstation Network with the flood of traffic by downloading this new firmware (Remember school’s out) and god knows what file size it is. I assume it will be a pretty hefty download.
I can see a lot of people getting frustrated when 2.4 arrives because they are eager to try the new in-game XMB and start earning them new trophies to become to the trophy king.
I’m not going to rush and download this because i know it will be slow and take literally hours to download.
Are Sony prepared? We’ll see.

it depends on ur internet whether it takes long to update, mine only took 3mins to update th last update, this update will ony be a bit longer
The last dashboard update the 360 did had alot more features on it and it was installed and running in less than 5 minutes, hopefully Sony is ready and there wont be any problems.
I’ll only be downloading ‘as and when’, if I go online to play anything with clanmates. I’m not particularly bothered about in-game XMB or Trophies - which is part of the reason I’ve never been interested in getting a 360.
The one thing I was hoping to get from the update was the ability to start a chat with a number of people in XMB and carry it on into a game such as Warhawk, thus over-riding the wholly inadequate comms system in that and other titles. But since they don’t seem to have implemented that (yet) I’ve no rush for the update.
Its not going to be long. Almost every update has been around 100-150MB, so yeah, taking it as long could be your retrivision over the entire topic. But thats not a big deal when it downloads in like 15 minutes with fast internet (Fios, Brighthouse [depending on your plan], etc.)
I am downloading that right after work!!!!
It better go at a decent speed… yeah it may be a large update compared to the others (in file size), but you are correct that many people will be downloading at the same time…. probably slowing it down a bit…oh well… at least its finally here!
(now we just have to wait for them to upgrade to add voice chat over in game xmb)

First I’m going to say nah, I’m gonna wait, then I’ll be waiting till 12 to try and download the firmware. I know myself
