Heavy Rain Details

VG247 are seeing a closed demo of the game at the Games Convention, and Quantic’s David Cage is walking through the demo that extends and includes the trailer released yesterday.

Here’s the list:

  • You only control the head shoulders of the character, to move you just press a button.
  • The main character is investigating a number of disappearances and will be going to the house of a taxidermist.
  • Everything is context sensitive.
  • The interface is designed for emotion, whatever you feel the character feels.
  • The protagonist is a journalist trying to get a story. Inspecting the house she finds dead women strewn about.
  • SIXAXIS is used to open windows and look through keyholes.
  • There are different endings to each scenario depending on how the player plays.

Coming from Eurogamer, Quantic Dream has confirmed there will be a demo of the game before the game releases, and it will steer away from the main story line.

Quantic Dream has also hinted of future downloadable content to extend the main story, and for future titles.

Heavy Rain is due for release in 2009, stay tuned to TalkPlayStation.com as we get more news on this game.

Thanks for sharing these details, aerfoxkelly. I’ve seen the new gameplay trailer but didn’t know any of this stuff before. Multiple endings are nice, but I hope the game’s still long.

Since this is a PlayStation site, I’m sure you writers all already have PS3s… but some of the readers don’t just yet. I wanted to let them know about a Stacker 2 contest going on where they could win their choice between a PS3 and an Xbox 360. There are less than 180 entrants as of now, so the chances of winning are pretty decent it seems. If you’re interested in making a post about this to let your readers know, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to provide more info. You can also take a look at the contest details here: http://www.brickfish.com/Entertainment/Stacker2?tab=overview

Good luck to those entering. Send me an e-mail if you entered and I’ll vote for your design.

@ aerfoxkelly, I hope I’m not overstepping my bounds by commenting on the site, by the way. Please send me an e-mail if you have any questions or if you’d like to write a post about this.

We are here to support the PlayStation community.

Don’t worry you aren’t overstepping your boundaries. We will look into the offer you have set up. I can’t guarantee that we will though.
