Haze runs at 720p

Previous reports suggested that the PS3 exclusive shooter Haze runs at a sub HD resolution of 1024×576. I can confirm that this is false. According to the Haze Community Developer, Aymeric Evennou AKA Ubi_Wuzzi, Haze runs at a HD resolution of 720p.

Haze

“Since last week, I hope you enjoyed the demo and that you did not make any abusive use of Nectar. From what we saw, it seems that you enjoyed playing this demo. Yet, we noticed that some of you found the demo too easy, for those ones the suggestion is to try the Hard mode. (You may also be glad to know that an Ultra Hard mode is unlockable in the final version of the game!) From some other comments I read, I wanted to clarify that the game runs at 720p resolution.”

So for those who wanted a definite answer straight from the developers mouth, there it is, Haze runs at 720p.

Thanks for this, cleared things up.

What about the demo because it sure doesnt look HD.
I like the demo(nebie nerves) but that dullness is wack so I
hope the final is much more vibrant as in HD.

Why is it not 1080p!!!!!

So what resolution was the standard for all models, video and static images? It does not matter if the PS3 runs it at 720p, if the image is low/lower res, guess what, it will be displayed the same in a 720p wrapper. You will find that many of your games will have low resolution objects and models that are used particularly at distances when high detail does not matter. GTAIV is a fountain of examples.

I played the demo, it was okay gameplay-wise, but I think the story, cheeky humor and unique gunplay that follows Free Radical will remind me why this game will be what a game is supposed to be. Fun.

For a PR rep, a front-buffer in 720p is a 720p game.
ask him the rendering resolution, or the back-buffer resolution for a different answer (or not, i’m not sure that PR know this things)

Of course the developer is going to deny its 576p. One look at the demo and you can tell its not 720p.

Definitley not 720p. The graphics on the demo are horrible and blurry. The developer is lying.

Its not 720p. The developer is lying. Ask him what the native resolution is. The demo is defo sub hd. Horrible graphics.

Normally, I wouldn’t throw this in someone’s face, but the author of this article was so sure of himself that I need to knock him down. See today’s joystiq page where you will see that the game is 576p and is merely upscaled to 720. Again, this isn’t a big deal as all of the big games have been doing the same thing, but this author needs to own up to save his credibility. Here is what the joystiq article says…

“Free Radical has confirmed that ambiguously exclusive PlayStation 3 shooter, Haze, will not be the source of standard, high-definition visuals. Speaking to Ripten, Creative Lead Derek Littlewood explained that, much like other sub-HD games, the 1024×576 resolution was chosen to ensure “a nice smooth framerate.” Says Littlewood: “Well, as you develop an engine you’re aiming for a certain thing, but as all the pieces slot into place, you end up realising what sort of resolution you can run it at and that’s where we ended up with for Haze.”

Who gives a shit about 144 lines of pixels B. Sinclair? Don’t buy it if you feel so strongly about it. Take it out on the developer not the author.

I agree with J.Stez. B. Sinclair your being a little harsh on the author because the author is only posting what has been said.

Who the F*** cares!

This game shouldn’t never have been released in the first place! Nothing about it stands out, except of course the terrible textures and sophorific gameplay!
