Sony Computer Entertainment Europe boss David Reeves has revealed that getting things last (Europe get most things last like games and hardware) is an advantage.
“People say, ‘Well, why do we always get things last? Why can’t we say things?’ Well, I’ve said this many times before: sometimes it’s an advantage to be last in Europe, you know, when everything’s ironed out.”
“This time, we do have things to say in the European [market]. We have the music service, and we’re doing great things on SingStar and there’s more to come. These are global announcements.”
“They recognize that the show’s in Europe, whether it’s in Leipzig, Cologne or London: we can do the announcements wherever. So they said to us in Tokyo, ‘Do you want to do it here?’ And we said, ‘Yeah, we’d love to do it here.’”
Europe don’t mind waiting a few weeks but waiting months on end is quite dissapointing. Hopefully now, this will be sorted for Europe.

With some things, I accept that it may be an advantage of sorts. but in most cases, he’s just havin’ a laugh!
What’s the advantage of us still having no Siren demo, even though the full game has been available for a month?
What’s the advantage of us still having no Novastrike?
What’s the advantage of us still having no Shivering Isles add-on for Oblivion?
What’s the advantage of us having nothing like Qore?
What’s the advantage of us getting a demo of Pacific Rift a month after the US get it in Qore, even though the game is a European product?
I’d like Mr. Reeves to explain those advantages, because I think I may not be realising just how lucky I am…
I agree with you there. The main reason why i’ve not bought Siren is because i want to try it out before splashing out £20 on it. We need a demo for it.
You can get the demo from the US PS Store
Yeah, true. I will have to have a look into creating an american account so i can get the demo.
Yes, I could get the demo from the US store, but I don’t have an account, and have no intention of creating one.
The whole point is that I shouldn’t HAVE to resort to creating accounts with false information to obtain these things. SCEE should get their finger out with regard to up the European stores.
Spot on Para! Shivering Isles has been released on the US store (many, many months ago), and obviously has a European counterpart (thanks to the Game of the Year edition of Oblivion, already available), so why isn’t the expansion on the store for the silly fools like myself who bought the game on release only to be slapped in the face? Are we being spared terrible glitches presented by the expansion or is somebody simply not bothered about a European release?
Similarly, how’s Castlevania coming along in the Euro store?
Meh. There’s a lot of negative stuff to be said for Euro releases still, but it’s better than it used to be. Plenty of games are getting here pretty quickly now… though I suspect Final Fantasy XIII will be an unhappy exception to that improvement, likely taking years to reach Europe.
I doubt Castlevania may reach Europe’s PS Store. Europe has PS titles that the US PS Store doesn’t have. For example Command & Conquer, Medieval probably a few more I can’t remember.
Square says they are going to cut localization times to both Europe and the US. They say both regions will get it hopefully 6 months after Japans release. You can always import it, since PS3 isn’t region locked anymore. Which I will most likely do for FFXIII.
