UPDATE: And it’s over. I managed to get ranked up

The Talk PlayStation server for Killzone 2 is currently up. The delay was my fault as I lost track of time enjoying the nice weather outside.
The server will be up and running for the next 2-3 hours. Hope to see some of you there.
EDIT: the hosting was no success. We never attracted the crowd we wanted. We hope to have more luck next time with other games.

A change of face
We had hoped to have brought you the new look with our anniversary but stuff happened and we decided to postpone it. As of now you will be able to enjoy your stories with a new theme for Talk PlayStation.
The front page won’t show so many stories as before, and browsing page numbers has also disappeared. So to get the latest news, you’ll need to get connected to us through RSS, twitter or visit the site even more regular to stay on top of the news.
There is a special video box that will show you the latest video we’ve uploaded. Still want to see a different video, simply visit the video category to see which other video’s we’ve found and posted for you or search for it.
In the past few months we’ve noticed a change in how readers look at the/our stories and we’ll be working on this to make it even more approachable and more importantly without the copy and past of a press release.
We also have plans to get a proper community set up. Most of these plans have already been out for a while but we never gave them any publicity on the site. So watch out for these announcement in the near future.
We hope you enjoy the new look and please don’t hesitate to contact use to give us feedback or if you feel you can contribute in any other way to the site.

When the conference began, you can already feel the vibe of excitement of what Sony was going to display. The audience was even enthusiastic. Here’s a brief summary of the conference.
The conference started off with montages of the games spanning from the PS3, PSN, PSP, and PS2. Jack Tretton appears and talks about the PlayStation franchise. The first game they displayed was Uncharted 2, the single player portion. The depth you saw in the vastness was great. It looks to be a promising sequel. The next game was MAG, their surprise hitter from last year. They showed a live 256 player match, and the game held up magnificently. It looks to play just as CoD4. After the two PS3 game showing they focused on the PSP front. Kaz Hirai came onto the stage, and finally revealed the PSP GO, the newest iteration for the PlayStation Portable. Along with the display came two new games. The long awaited Gran Turismo is FINALLY coming to the PSP. Along with Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. A new Resident Evil title is in the works for the PSP. Third Party titles were shown, ending with a montage.
Sony’s iteration of the motion controller scene was unveiled. you could really tell it was still in testing. But the way they presented it was just humorous. It really wasn’t for it to be unveiled to the public but they did the best with what they had. They showed off how responsive the motion controller was, and some mini games you can play within it. The new motion controller will be compatible with the PS Eye.
They go back to the PS3 lineup. Showing off Assassins Creed 2 footage, and then Final Fantasy XIII. What Sony showed next was unexpected. Final Fantasy XIV was announced, and will be a PS3 Exclusive. Along with the long awaited unveiling of Agent, another PS3 exclusive from Rockstar games. When LittleBigPlanet released, it was focused on PlayCreateShare. Another company came out, and decided to put a spin on it. The game will be race oriented, from designing your own tracks, to designing your own characters. It will be nice to see what the community makes out of this.
A teaser was shown for Gran Turismo 5, and it looks amazing, damage will finally be introduced into the series, along with NASCAR. The gorgeous lighting, and the detail to each car is amazing. Sony showed off the new The Last Guardian, a game from the creator of Ico, and Shadow of the Colossus. Another beautiful game. Sony finished off with a live demo of God of War III.
Expect an article on each title throughout today and tomorrow on the titles unveiled at todays E3. If you watched the Press Conference, what did you enjoy the most out of it?

Thank you,
Talk Playstation Staff.

On behalf of everybody here at Talk Playstation we would like to wish all our loyal reader and visitors a Happy New Year and the best wishes for the coming year as it will be a hard one for many.
We hope that the financial crisis will slowly come to a halt and that companies will realise that there are other ways to do it.
2009 will have to be the ‘real‘ year of PlayStation and that is something we strongly believe in with Blu-ray sales rising and more developers contradicting the ‘hard to code’ myth. This year will be both a interesting and deciding year.
So expect more stories, more give away competitions, events and changes in the coming year from us.
2009 is ours!
P.S And for all you people with a hang over, here are some tips to get rid of it.

[Updated] Join the ClubUpdate: We change the name of the club. The name is now Talk Pl@yStation
With Home finally available to everybody we decided to make a club for Talk Playstation.
We tried Talk PlayStation but were denied because of the word PlayStation. Seems you can’t make any club with such a name. So we decided on Talk Pl@yStation. Not very original but it did the job.
At the moment it’s a Basic Club House, but when the Premium Clubs come out we will upgrade to that when it is possible. We’re looking forward to seeing you in the virtual world, and they’re already plans from our side to hold some of our give away events in our own Harbour Studio or Summer Cottage.
Club name: Talk Pl@yStation

Hands-On with Resistance 2When Resistance 2 hit store shelves on November 4th in North America, I went by my local store and picked up one of my copy of the Collector’s Edition. Got home, and popped the game disc in. I was never to be seen again that whole night. It was hard for me to put the game down, until I encountered a problem in the game (which was easily bypassed with the restart of the chapter). From the stunning visuals, boss battles, and the scale of the game. I loved the experience that Insomniac had crafted into making this great title.
My favorite part of the game, has to be the Leviathan. Just the size of it makes you go wow. Not only that but what Insomniac had to do in order to make the creature had to be allot of work.
Sometimes there were moments in the game where you had encountered in some cheap deaths, and enemies tend to target you, instead of your nearby friendlies. Which was a problem in the first Resistance. You can only carry 2 weapons at a time instead of a full arsenal. Favorite weapon would have to be the splicer. With the splicer you can launch multiple saw blades, unleashing a path of destruction and cut up limbs.
Unfortunately there is no split screen option for the single player story this time around. Instead you have the separate campaign mode, In which you and up to 8 friends can play in. You may go split screen in either the co-op campaign, or multiplayer. There can only be one sign in, you are unable to sign in with two accounts simultaneously, for now at least.
Seeing as how my area still has some Collector’s Edition of the game lying around. We hear were thinking that some of our readers out there may have the chance to win one. Do I hear a yay or a nay from our fellow readers? If you can’t remember what the Collector’s Edition contains then you can find out here.

Home Beta website changeAs I was just visiting the Home beta site: http://www.homebetatrial.com/ . I ended up on the ‘new’ EU Playstation forum board dedicated to Home.
Does this mean the release of the open beta for Home is near (duh)? Or is Sony just tidying up the EU forum and ‘dead’ sites. We don’t know. But we’ll see. Last time I checked (a few days ago) the original link was still active.

LittleBigPlanet Hands-OnWe got the chance to play the beta of the game, and we want to share you our experience of the game.
The game is essentially easy and pick up to play. At first you’ll need to play through levels in order to start making your own content. I’ll go into content making later in this post. You will first have to play through the credits to get the feel of the controls.
In each level you play you can find stickers scattered throughout the level. Some are hidden, and you can collect the green orbs to gather points. The more points you score the higher up you go on the Leaderboards, but then if you have 2 or more players than it provides a race to see who has the most points.
The online component for the beta was a bit laggy when it was full. So, it’s a nice thing that they delayed the online part for the game. Other than that, you can play levels, user created levels, and even make levels with your online friends. It’s a fun experience for offline and online friends. Personally I liked swinging my arm around and smacking people to their death.
User Created Content, since the beta begun many people were already cracking on making levels. Lots of them are pretty wicked you can say. It’s pretty easy to make your own level. The level editor provides you with videos, and tutorials. Playing these tutorials helps you unlock more goodies to help you in your creations. I have messed around with it here and there, but I won’t begin making levels until the full game releases. Some of you may ask, is it hard to use the level editor? The answer for that is a no, it’s easy to pick and and create something within 10 minutes.
Well there you have it, the hands-on experience. But due the limited timing of the beta, we aren’t able to do a contest for a beta code giveaway. We have one spare code to provide, to whoever is lucky enough to be able to snag it. I’m not sure if the code is region locked, if it is, then we apologize. To get the beta code just shoot an e-mail over at aerfox@talkplaystation.com. So happy spamming people.
Update: Giveaway over, somebody had already claimed the code.
Just noticed I had another one from the PlayStation Underground. It doesn’t say it’s linked to my PSN ID, so hopefully it works. Again send me an e-mail at aerfox@talkplaystation.com. Please Put LittleBigPlanet Beta as the title please.
Update: Second Code was taken. Thanks for all that tried to receive a code. I might be able to scrounge up a few more codes. If so, stay tuned to this article.
