Vidzone Advertising Mirrors Edge DLC

Vidzone was announced last year to be compatible the the PlayStation 3. The release date is set for the beginning of the year. Vidzone offers free music videos in good quality. As I visited Vidzone a while ago the home menu has changed. The logo for the Mirrors Edge DLC is now displaying as the home picture.
Sony may be taking some changes in the advertising business. And it’s not the only thing they are changing, their attitude also. Yesterday they dissed IGN and left a nasty yet funny comment on the PSP2 rumour. So all you music lovers out there it’s time to get excited about the new online media service because Vidzone might be getting very close to it’s release date.

Sony Furious With IGN’s PSP 2 Rumour
Sony not only cleared up the rumour about the PSP 2 but in the process dissed IGN for making it up. IGN have gone back to their old ways, nothing to write about so just get peoples hopes up by making up a silly rumour. Sony responded with one of the best PR quotes of all time.
“Clearly, being a quiet time of year, many, what we thought to be credible websites, are making up stories about PSP2, and how it allows you to teleport across the globe, travel through time, and will be powered by the horns of baby rhinoceroses,” Sony explained. I don’t what Sony staff is smoking but I want some of it.
Is Sony finally going to fight back against these kind of rumours from now on. It’s about time if you asked me. Sony is on a roll with the jokes so lets see what else they have in store for us. Maybe a ginger kid following the monkey of time through a hardware store full of bananas. We can only wait and see.

After the news that Sony would make it’s first loss in 14 years, they lowered the sales expectations of the PlayStation portable to 15 million. Numbers of the PlayStation 3 remained at 10 million (both worldwide).
An analyst named Doug Creutz has lowered his 2009 US sales for the PS3 to 4 millions. 2,25 millions less then the previous estimates. He also lowered the 2010 numbers by 2 millions to 4.5. Why you think?
Although there appears to be a reasonably robust slate of games for the PlayStation 3 this year, Sony continues to lack a clear ‘must-own’ title that will drive sales, while its platform continues to be the most expensive in the market in the midst of a consumer slowdown. Meanwhile, highly publicized platform initiatives such as Home have failed to get off the ground
His expected sales numbers of 2008 were short by 1,25 million in the U.S, where it ‘only’ sold 3.5 millions consoles.
If he is right, Cowen and Company the company he works for is going to be my investment advisor.

Sony Bend the studio responsible for the upcoming title Resistance: Retribution seems the be the only studio who has a hold on the technology of using a Sixaxis. Developing PSP Plus to be able to use your existing Sixaxis controller and sync it with your PSP via Resistance 2 makes them one of a kind in the Sony game studios.
Sony said they weren’t sure yet if the tech would be passed on to other studios let alone having considering it.
We have a hunch Sony will look how the reception is with the game and how PSP Plus will affect gamers. And it’s success depends mostly on the place people will play it. At home or on the road.

IGN reviews PlayStation Network experienceIGN has placed a semi-review on getting online with your PlayStation 3, to play on the PlayStation Network. Their conclusion
The PlayStation 3 has so much potential. If only it would apply itself a little more. It’s clearly capable of great things, but without improving on some of the key areas outlined above, it’ll never reach that potential. Also, something really must be done about getting it into a bigger class size. Perhaps we should speak with the school about lowering tuition costs…
Many PlayStation 3 owners will agree say that sites like Eurogamer.net and IGN are pro Microsoft and/or anti-Sony/PlayStation.
We say ignore them and make your own judgement but if your still interested in known what they wrote, go ahead.

Bethesda: PS3 owners out of luck for now
fallout3_15-07-08_04
While the PC and Xbox 360 owners can enjoy three upcoming downloadable contents packs for Fallout 3, PS3 owners are left behind. Last time I check there were three petitions for Bethesda to release DLC’s for the PlayStation 3 as well. No luck so far. But now PS3 owners are kicked in the chin again.
Many Fallout 3 players complained about not being able to continue the game after completing the main story. Bethesda responded and through the upcoming ‘expansions’ players will now be able to continue to roam the wasteland after *spoiler*spoiler*. PC and Xbox owners that is. MTV Multiplayer contacted Bethesda about this also being added to the PS3 version and they got a response from Fallout 3 producer, Todd Howard.
Not at this time, no
So is there still hope for PS3 owners to complete all unfinished side quests. We hope there is but time will tell while we wait for change.

SCEE safe (for now)With reports coming in about Sony’s upcoming $2.9 billion, SCE let word out that SCEE has not been included in the plans to cut jobs and downsize operations. Sony is currently busy trying to make a restructuring plan to safe YEN 250bn before 2010. Though the biggest hits will fall in the music and movie industry, the PlayStation brand made a loss of $338 million. But there is hope for that division as Howard Stringer believes Sony has to change it’s current direction and focus on software.
Sony needs further restructuring, not just cost-cutting but a revamping of its business operations
Sony’s Electronics division of Personal Electronics will also expect to have a loss of around $340 million. With plans to change the location of the TV production and design operations at one plant in Japan and move them to another country.
Pay cuts for high management positions are also considered in the restructuring plan that included curbing investment, closing five to six plants and cutting a total of 16,000 regular and contract jobs globally to save 100 billion yen a year in costs.
But is this all due to drop in demand. No! It’s also the dollar (and the pound in the last two months of 2008) that dropped heavy against the Yen. Thus bringing in less value for Sony per sold item.
Before this all was announced their stock dropped 2.6% and will probably drop more tomorrow.
It’s hard to believe that almost a year ago Sony posted a profit of 369 billion YEN.

Jaffe Reveals Twisted Metal?PS3CENTER.NET may have stumbled upon something, so we took an investigation of it on our own. We all know that David Jaffe has been working on some projects for the PlayStation 3. In David Jaffe’s latest video blog, he talks about a focus group they’ve been holding for awhile. He held up a piece of paper with questions on them for the focus group. On the top line, it reads TWISTED METAL.
David Jaffe is critically acclaimed for introducing the Twisted Metal Franchise on the original PlayStation. He then goes on to make another huge franchise titled God of War. Lots of fans have been yearning for a Twisted Metal game on the PlayStation 3. If this holds to be true, this will please many many fans. Below you’ll see a slightly eligible screenshot. An updated version of it will appear later on in the day.

You’ll see what we’re talking about between the 30 and 31 second mark.

Godfather 2 to be the best in it’s genre
That is if you believe Hunter Smith, executive producer of the upcoming game Godfather II. In an interview with CVG he thing the game sticks out head and shoulders above the competition. The reason why?
It’s a very intuitive experience. To go hand-to-hand we moved from having to lock on to everybody just to interact with them and then stick mashing to right and left controls so you really feel that you’re tied into your avatar in terms of your right and left hands. We also added combos because we have the right and left experience
Also the addition of a crew system “really makes them stand out”.
Would you agree? I personally don’. But I hope the game will prove me wrong.

Capcom has recently announced that the Resident Evil 5 demo will be making it’s way to the European Playstation Store on the 2nd of February 2009.
So yes, 2 weeks before the game is released.

Sony Expected to Have Financial Loss
Sony is expected to lose 1 billion Dollars according to the Nikkei Business Daily. Nikkei said that the price might be double through the January March. This is Sony first loss in 14 years

Over at the PlayStation Blog Jeremy Chubb has posted screenshots of the three remaining Legendary cars. Here are the screenshots.
This is the 88 special or it is also known as the hovering car.

First up the Manhattan Spirit. Not the fastest car in Paradise City, but this reimagining of Burnout Paradise’s Hunter Manhattan should keep the spirits at bay.Fans of the original will know that this underused beauty is great for stunts. This customized special version is even better, but like all the Legendary Cars, this has a trick up its sleeve – hit L3 and boost to find out what it does.

This is the Carson Nighthawk. Denied by the government and disowned by Carson, this ultra rare version of the Carson GT is the ultimate super pursuit vehicle. The custom lighting array triggered by boost makes this the most distinctive-looking vehicle for night time events in the dangerous world of Paradise City.
And finally, the Cavalry Bootlegger. Branded with the Mexican flag and tagged as a tribute to The Chicanator, one of our big-time Mexican Burnout fans, this is a classic modified Hunter Cavalry. Hit a massive jump and press L3 to sound the incredible horn – it’s one of the defining moments in Paradise City. Also available in orange.
They should be appearing on the PSN in early February.

Online news papers say the PlayStation is losing it, competitors think they know the machine better then it’s creators but (a) retailer(s) says something different. GameStop’s CEO, Daniel DeMatteo has come out by saying he find the PlayStation 3 a “great machine” but with the current financial troubles the price is just too much.
The cheapest Xbox 360, which comes without a hard drive, costs $200 and the Wii is $250. Sony Corp.’s 80-gigabyte PlayStation 3 console, which includes a Blu-ray player, sells for $400. PlayStation 3 is a “great machine,” but it is just a bit pricey for the current economic environment
We agree that the price is steep but what your getting back for it without buying all those peripherals to make it complete, makes it cheaper in the end. Though this encites the talks of having a choice and being ‘forced’ one.
