Activision: PlayStation 3 Will Outsell Xbox 360
During a conference call, Activision CEO Mike Griffith spoke about the company’s expectations for console sales for this year. Mike said he believe that the Playstation 3 will outsell the Xbox 360 this year.
Activision predicts the sales this year and think:
- PlayStation 3: 8 million units
- Xbox 360: 6-7 million units
- Wii: 15 million units
- PlayStation 2: 4-5 million units
Still far behind the Wii but ahead of the Xbox 360.

Not only is this extremly accurate by activision, but it’s also a very stupid thing to say. It’s simple math. Xbox 360 has been around more than Ps3 thus it will generally peak during the first 2-3 years and then decline in sales as the markets for the Xbox 360 will be fully used. Example; If the xbox 360 has sold 100 there are 100 people that WON’T buy another Xbox 360. Yet those costumers still have the option to buy a PS3. We should also take into account that PS3 is Sony which means that Japanese people will buy it.. and a whole country backing up one console will ofcourse boost the sales.
