This weeks update brings a lot of DLC content to Europe. Like the US, Europe has the Pain expansion which was delayed.

Our opinion is that Sony is still missing out on a lot of money due to not having released the Playstation Network Cards in Europe, even if it was on a small scale to help the profits in these bad economic times.

Here is the list anways:

Add-on Content

* PAIN David Hasselhoff add-on pack (£1.19/€1.49)
* PAIN Movie Studio add-on pack (£3.99/€4.99)
* Dead Space DLC (listed after the break)
* LittleBigPlanet DLC (listed after the break)
* Guitar Hero World Tour DLC (listed after the break)
* Rock Band DLC (listed after the break)
* 5x Soul Calibur IV equipment customization packs (£0.79 – £1.59/€0.99 – €1.99)
* Star Wars The Force Unleashed character pack 1 (£6.29/€7.99)
* Everybody’s Golf 5 character pack (£3.19/€3.99)
* Civilization Revolution “The Terrestrial” map pack (£0.79/€0.99)
* Civilization Revolution “Elemental” map pack (free)
(more…)

TedTheDog , Home Community Manger on the official EU Playstation forums, let the community know that in the coming weeks Home version 1.0 (Normally the version format that gets released to the public) will be released on the the Closed Beta community to further test it.
The Patch Notes of 1.0 will be published in the Closed beta forum section so the tester know what they can expect and help plan testing.

After Home 1.0 has been released onto the Closed Beta community, a few days after that invites will be send out to expand the user base in the Closed Beta. The invites won’t go out in one full blow but will be gradually send out over a period of time. And for the first time they will invite non-English speaking tester. Those are English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.

Once the invites have been send out the SCEE Home forums will become the Home beta test forums. A date for the Open Beta of Home will then be announced after that. And like Open Beta says, it’s available to everybody (on a PS3) form that day.

One important thing TedTheDog said was

Home Beta is a service that will grow from the foundation of v1.0 over the coming months and years so thinking of it as a start rather than a finish will help you understand where its going and what its all about.

So like Gmail, HOME will continue to evolve.

You have probably heard about all the news surrounding the moderated levels in LittleBigPlanet. According to Sam over on the LittleBigWorkshop forums, around 200 levels have been modded, this equals to about 0.5% of the total levels.

Oasis is the name both of a band and of a soft drink (at least in Europe), however any level using the title “Oasis” would be absolutely fine right now unless it included music by Oasis the band, or the likeness of the drinks bottle.

There is a lot of exaggeration at play here with exactly what’s going on with moderation. Firstly, no level is moderated unless it has been reported using the Good Grief tool, at which point it will only be blocked from online play if it is in violation of the EULA. To date there have been fewer than 200 levels which have been blocked – considerably less than 0.5% of all the levels published. The great majority of moderated levels were removed due to containing obscenity.

Finally, if your level is moderated you will receive a message informing you that it has happened – if you don’t receive a message, it hasn’t been moderated. Try searching for your PSN ID to find all the levels you’ve published.

There is work to be done on improving the communication of why levels have been moderated, and this is underway, however this is not as widespread as you may have been lead to believe, and it does not affect levels you have locally.

Have any of your levels been modded?

Sucker Punch creative director Nate Fox has said developers should focus on quality not quantity. This means that inFamous will be focusing on quality.

Look at God of War – it is an excellent game, an instant classic, and it’s only like seven hours long,

GTA IV is 30 hours long, and people wanted more? That just tells you how excellent that game is.

It seems to me that it’s not about length, but about quality,

And because I love both of those games, I hope that developers never try to shoot for a long game, but instead for the most fun they can pack onto the disc – at any length. That’s what we’re doing for inFamous.

What do you prefer, quality or quantity?

The new crash damage system that is in development for Gran Turismo 5 is proving troublesome according to Kazunori Yamauchi, CEO of Polyphony Digital. The game creator is apparently still in talks with some of the car manufacturers including Ferrari, to allow their cars to be subjected to crash damage. The head of ‘Ferrari Challenge’ developer ‘System 3′ said earlier this year that convincing Ferrari to put damage on the cars was a “big challenge”.

Wow, check this out. Below is what Sackboy could have looked like. This is the first mockup design of Sackboy.

What do you think of that then? A bit different to the final version of Sackboy. What about a video of how LittleBigPlanet began? Want to see the very first prototype video of the game? Here it is!

I decided to resubmit this because it is really amazing to see how LittleBigPlanet started off as. I edited the music so that it looped throughout the vid. Enjoy!

Amazing to see how it has transformed in development.

Have you heard about the moderation of LittleBigPlanet levels? This is due to copyright materials etc. Here’s an example, Mega Man in LittleBigPlanet, this level will most likely be moderated and removed. Check it out.
