Ok, so most of you if not all of you know that LittleBigPlanet has been delayed because the muslim community wasn’t happy about one of the games background music.

So what was the song in question? After doing some research it seems to be called ‘Tapha Niang’. Head over to  Toumani Diabate’s MySpace page and listen to Tapha Niang.

Capcom was awarded by Sony in getting their own section within the PlayStation Store. They had also hinted at a possibility of their own store within Home.

Capcom is kicking off a new PlayStation Network initiative in which game publishers will have their own dedicated digital storefronts, Edge has learned.

“Out of all of the third-party companies making use of the digital space, [Sony] recognizes Capcom is one of the best partners for content,” said John Diamonon, product manager on all Capcom digital titles.

He said that Sony approached Capcom with the idea. “We’re supporting PlayStation Network like no other company,” Diamonon claimed.

Capcom expects the store to launch in early November. Diamonon acknowledged that other publishers will offer dedicated storefronts in the future.

Capcom recently released well-received digital offerings across online storefronts on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii. The old school Mega Man 9 launched with much hardcore fanfare in late September, and prior to that the high-def remake Bionic Commando: Rearmed made waves on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Christian Svensson, VP of business development and strategic planning for Capcom said the company has found online to be a prime venue for “fan-focused” content that “would never survive at retail.”

Svensson continued, “…Sony’s taking advantage of–in a very real way–one of the benefits of digital, in that there are multiple ways to sort, search and put things in front of people. In a physical store, that physical object can only exist in one physical space.

“With digital, that object can be highlighted in about 20 different ways. I think Sony is first to recognize that. The more opportunities that someone has a chance to see or be exposed to our content … the more likely it is that someone will give a Capcom title a shot.”

He continued, “[Online's] also really good for noodling features and figuring out what people want, which bring ramifications for our bigger online titles.”

Diamonon added that Capcom is trying to establish a “digital brand” that gamers will associate with quality, and a dedicated storefront is one way of getting products in front of consumers.

PlayStation Network is by no means the only digital storefront on consoles. But Svensson said Xbox Live Marketplace isn’t as conducive to a dedicated store.

“As far as Microsoft goes–how can I say this dimplomatically–there are things I think they’d like to do to promote content in multiple ways, and I think they’ll get there eventually… but they’re not there yet.”

The execs noted how the New Xbox Live Experience is likely the Microsoft’s first priority on the digital front, and will pave the way for Capcom-branded pages.

With PlayStation Home, Sony is expanding upon the menu-based interface. Could we see a 3D Capcom store in Home? Diamonon said, “I don’t know if I can talk about anything on that side yet, but I suppose it’s theoretically possible.”

When LittleBigPlanet was announced earlier today that the game would be delayed for Europe, it was heartbreaking. To make the news even more harder, is Sony have recalled all disks worldwide. Meaning that the game will be delayed across the world. The reasoning of the delay is because of a background music.

During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologise for any offence that this may have caused.

Stay tuned for a new announcement on the new release soon.

UPDATE: The game will ship across North America on October 27th. No date for Europe as of yet.

UPDATE 2: Europe will be receiving the game on October 31st.

Sorry to bring the bad news, but LittleBigPlanet has been delayed for release in Europe. Sony hasn’t announced a new release date for it, but expect one soon.

The release of Sony’s highly anticipated PlayStation 3 title LittleBigPlanet has been delayed in Europe.

The game was due for release next week, October 24, but now some retailers are estimating the game may be delayed by three weeks until November 14.

However, GamesIndustry.biz understands that the title may not suffer such a long delay to retail, and a new date is expected to be announced by Sony shortly.

LittleBigPlanet has reviewed incredibly well in the specialist press and anticipation is high from consumers who have already had access to the beta of the game.

Sony has said that the game is a system seller for the PlayStation 3, and the title is considered one of the most important releases for the home console this Christmas.

sack boy Angry fanboys target LittleBigPlanet

It seems that angry Xbox fanboys have targetted LittleBigPlanet by giving the game low scores on Metacritic. LittleBigPlanet has a rating of just 6.0 out of 10. This is as of 17/10/08 @ 14.00 GTM based on 1811 user votes. Looks like the fanboys have topped themselves, i can’t help but laugh, this is ridiculous, the game isn’t even out yet.

On the other hand, LittleBigPlanet has a Metacritic score of 95 out of 100 based on 17 reviews, this puts the game in the third position in the PS3 charts. Is it time to stop paying attention to user based scores from now on because of this? Surely LittleBigPlanet doesnt desserve a rating of 6.0 overall.

Whats your thought on this?

The Resistance 2 beta has begun and is well underway. Below is some information from the Playstation.Blog.

  • Today, October 16th, the public beta for Resistance 2 will begin in North America. The beta will offer gamers a glimpse at Resistance 2’s online competitive and co-op modes ahead of the game’s launch on November 4th. We will be admitting players in two waves: a Premiere wave which includes those that pre-ordered at GameStop, individuals who subscribed to QORE for one year and/or bought the episode featuring Resistance 2 and a recent contest from GamePro.com. Those of you in the Premiere wave should be receiving an email with a registration code between now and tomorrow afternoon. A second wave is starting in the middle of next week, and you apply to be a part of it by going to beta.myresistance.net once the site goes live (later tonight). For those of you across the pond in Europe, the public beta will also begin next week.
  • The Beta will include competitive maps from three locations in the game. These maps include 60-, 40-, and 20-player maps from Orick, 40- and 20-player maps from Chicago, and the 10-Player map Sub Docks (Bay Area). New modes Skirmish and Core control will be supported, along with Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch. The co-op portion of the beta will focused on Orick, and will support randomization of your play-path. Both co-op and competitive will support matchmaking and class/character progression up to level 10. This will allow unlocking of new equipment, upgrades and berserks for character customization.
  • Speaking of beta.myresistance.net, the beta version of our new community site goes live tonight as well. Customizable leader boards/user profiles, individual blogs and ‘ticker’ that provides players with up to minute information of happenings on the site are just some of the features the beta site has to offer. Leading into the November 4th North American launch of the game (and the months to follow), we’ll be adding several more features that will make MyResistance.net the destination for all Resistance fans.
  • And, finally, Resistance 2 has gone gold. As a special treat, the below image gives all of you PlayStation Blog readers an idea on just how big just the online coop campaign mode is

Check your emails to see if you have an email with your Resistance 2 beta code.

Sony has been speaking to PSU about their newest firmware update 2.50 regarding the new screen capturing feature.

There aren’t any games that support the screenshot capability just yet, but we know there’s a lot of excitement among PS3 owners for this feature and would expect developers to begin offering it moving forward,

Supporting titles will be announced in the future. I wonder what games support this already. Lets hope LittleBigPlanet does.

If you buy the retail version of Socom Confrontation expect to free up some hard drive space if you havent already upgraded your Playstation 3 hard drive. The game data is 2.1GB but what about all the updates the game will have, this could extend this to around 3.1GB.

It is expected that Socom Confrontation will be updated a lot with big fixes, new maps and items. It will be a pretty big game.
