Guerrilla Games QA Manager Seb Downie said the lean and peak system seen in Killzone 2’s singleplayer mode will not be available in the multiplayer modes.

It didn’t work too well in the 360 degree combat environment that is multiplayer,

In single player the path is more linear and the action is usually ahead of the player. In MP levels are more arena based and you are more susceptible to flanking and being attacked from various angles.

We found that the L&P system didn’t add anything in that scenario and that players often actually took a step back from cover objects to give themselves a little more freedom to move, so they were actually working against the system, so we ripped it back out,

Downie concluded with:

Crouching was deemed sufficient.

Maybe they could include it again in a future update.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has launched their own official trophy leaderboard where you will be able to check your rank online. Élixor, SCE Community Team Leader on the European Playstation Forums has revealed that if you are a French resident, you will need to add user ‘trophee_01′ to your friend list. The trophy ranking is only available in France for the time being.

Using Google Translater, this is what Élixor has to say about the trophy ranking system.

1. Introduction
Hello all,

I know what you’ll say, I recycle Nehta drawings, but admit they are perfectly with the subject and I must say they are so beautiful!

The topic of this discussion is to make a classification Community trophies. As yet there is no automatic system I propose that we simply do this manually in our own way.

2. How does it work?

Each time you win a trophy we will update your score so you can climb up the ranking, the more you have more trophies you will be at the top of the ranking. More important are your trophies and more they are worth many points.

The battle will be very hard for the top places, courage!

3. How to participate?

It’s easy, simply add to your list of friend online ID Trophees_01 and wait for our response added.
Once you enter added in the list.

If the account is full Trophees_01 simply add Trophees_02, then Trophees_03 and so on.

4. How to update my score?

Again it is simple, once you are entered in the ranking you want to update your points whenever possible, even when you win a trophy.

So to update your score you can simply post a reply in this discussion by stating:

* The account on which you are registered, for example Trophees_01, Trophees_02 …
* The number of new trophies
* That is

5. Value of trophies

The value of trophies can be changed at any time to balance the calculation of scores.

Here are the current values:

* Platinum: 40 points
* Gold: 15 points
* Silver: 5 points
* Bronze: 2 points

Ray Maguire Sony Computer Entertainment UK managing director told VideoGamer.com that nothing is ever exclusive, responding to questions surrounding exclusive DLC on the Xbox 360.

Microsoft have somehow managed to get a lot of exclusive downloadable content for some of the biggest games. These games include; Grand Theft Auto IV, Fallout 3 and Tomb Raider Underworld. A lot of Sony loyals are obviously angry because Sony isn’t doing enough for them.

much rather that we (Sony) were investing money into making sure that we’ve got great R&D and we start producing games like LittleBigPlanet rather than paying other people a huge amount of money to stop people playing their product.

One thing to remember, nothing is ever exclusive. Things get wrapped up for a period of time for a large amount of money and if it’s a strategic decision by competition to do that then we have to live with that.

Obviously, what we have to do is make sure that our business plan is adhered to and we have the amount of money to invest in games rather than investing in stopping other people making games and progressing. So I would much rather that we were investing money into making sure that we’ve got great R&D and we start producing games like LittleBigPlanet, rather than paying other people a huge amount of money to stop people playing their product.

You have to remember that most third-party publishers of course have a business proposition that covers all platforms. With our own of course it’s different because our investment would purely be on our own platforms, and that’s the same as any first party. That’s a small part of the overall offering nowadays and the days of big exclusives, I think they were over a couple of years ago but they’re certainly over now.

This is what Maguire said at the Games 3.0 conference in London earlier this week. Does exclusive DLC bother you?

community manager at Insomniac games provided some info on the longevity of co-op mode in Resistance.

Each map will have different areas, 6 maps will be available for the co-op mode in Resistance 2. Each co-op campaign is believed to take between 15-20 hours to complete individually.

There are six locations, each has quite a few different areas, and a single-playthrough of any will not show you nearly the entire map or all of the different set-ups on it due to the randomization of the playpath. It probably takes between 15-20 hours to see every single co-op set-up and encounter.

Some insider information has appeared on the Internet regarding the next Battlefield Bad Company patch.

Servers instances have been reduced to 12 per machine from 15 and some extra servers added to Europe for the PS3 to handle peak play times and keep players in Europe, well, in Europe.

The following updates will be applied in the next patch.

· Increased Ticket count for all Conquest maps to make for longer rounds
· Find custom match on Conquest was fixed
· Knife melee no longer instantly kills friendly’s and will take two swipes
· Bullets and knives now go through undergrowth and trees leafs
· Shotgun damage in distance reduced, but is still just as powerful in closer range
· Savior Trophy requirements tweaked, awarded when you kill an enemy that attack a teammate and damaged them by 20% or more
· Drawing weapon time after sprinting is reduced to SP times to improve pace of action
· AA guns have less deviation and more damage to improve balance vs Gunships

Helicopters
- Lowered hand weapons damage against Gunships, but .50 Cal weapons on Vehicles retain their damage against the Gunships.
- Increased missile speeds for the pilot
- Gunner MG’s time to overheat increased with splash damage reduced
- Gunships wont explode when touching one trees and now have a damage multiplier based on the speed of the Gunship. This means if you are flying very slow you can knock over trees and take Zero damage, but if you’re at top speed 4-5 trees will destroy your Gunship.

There’s something to look forwards to.

The BBC are working on an iPlayer that will work for the Playstation 3. Anthony Rose, head of Online Media Group, BBC Future Media & Technology has revealed that the iPlayer for the PS3 is in the works.

We’re… working on bringing BBC iPlayer to Sony PS3, but we’re not quite there yet as the PS3 uses a slightly older version of Flash which doesn’t support some of the features used in our media player, and the very promising Flash 9 update now available on PS3 has some compatibility issues,

Rose mentions that the BBC flash developers are working on a PS3 version. Stay tuned for more updates on this.
