Far Cry 2 runs off a game engine called Dunia and features some of the most impressive graphics seen for a console. Gamespot’s Guy Crocker wrote:

“The developer says that the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC versions have been developed from the same core build, so they’ll all share the same features,”

“While we didn’t see the PS3 version, it’s claimed that the aliasing on Sony’s machine outperforms that of the 360, while on the PC it’s all dependent on the specifications of your machine.”

This is probably is down to the Cell Processor. The game is still in development so all this could change.

Sony CEO Sir Howard Stringer has told German news outlet Welt Online that he does not expect the R&D cash spend on PS3 to be recouped soon.

Stringer has mentioned that the consumers are purchasing PS3’s faster than Sony can produce them.

“Consumers are purchasing our PlayStation 3 video game consoles faster than we can produce them.”

“We currently have a production bottleneck with the PlayStation 3″

Stringer also mentions that they make a loss on every PS3 they sell and are making their money from the games owners are buying.

“In the meantime, we earn money with the games. We are currently at the stage in which we need to get a grip on the production costs. That takes time. We are already making more money with the games than we are losing with the hardware.”

There will be no price cut this year Stringer confirmed.

What about a price cut then? Will there be one this year? “I think not”, says Sir H enigmatically.

I think all these new bundles and SKU’s will play a big part in selling the console if no price cut is available this year.

Orinda Intellectual Properties USA, has filed a lawsuit against Sony for infringing on Blu-Ray related patents.

Here’s what Edge got details on the lawsuit:

In an August 20 court filing obtained by Edge, Orinda alleged that Sony infringed on patent number 5,438,560, which in broad terms describes methods for recording and reproducing information via optical disc.

Orinda wants a jury trial, asking for a injunction on the manufacturing, sales and distribution on all Blu-Ray devices, including the PlayStation 3. They are also asking for a “reasonable royalty.”

What is the communities thoughts on this? Even though this wasn’t the first time Sony was sued over the Blu-Ray patents.
