Thats right, there will be no exclusive fighters for different consoles. You will see the same characters in the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions.

That means it won’t be coming home with console-exclusive fighters a la Yoda and Darth Vader (or Link, Spawn and Heihachi). Instead, each version is planned to include the same roster, the arcade line-up plus whatever new additions the SFIV team sees fit.

So if you were waiting until they announced any exclusive fighters don’t have to wait any longer.

TripleChat has posted a good FAQ on Sony’s survival horror, Siren Blood Curse. For those of you still thinking about buying this game off the Playstation Store, this is a good read.

Pricing : Siren: Blood curse is composed of 12 episodes, separated into 3 episode packs, available bundled together in one complete SKU.

* 3 bundles of four episodes are prices at $14.99 per episode pack
* the full SKU is priced at $39.99, approximately $5 cheaper than purchasing 3 episode packs separately

Distribution : Siren: Blood Curse is purely distributed on the PlayStation Network directly from the PlayStation Store. In this section, we will disguss the differing methods of downloading the game from the PlayStation Store.

Note : For the sake of organization, we regard episode packs as “chapters”.

* Full SKU (episodes 1-12) — 8,91 GB
o Chapter 1 (episodes 1-4) — 2.95 GB
o Chapter 2 (episodes 5-8) — 2.79 GB
o Chapter 3 (episodes 9-12) — 3.16 GB
* You are able to download the full SKU at once
* You are able to download each “chapter” individually
* You are able to download each episode individually

Gameplay : Not necessarily a review of the game but quick notes briefly describing the unique nature of this title.

* Gameplay mechanics are completely unlike Resisdent Evil
* SIREN: Blood Curse is NOT a remake of the original SIREN game for PlayStation 2
o SIREN: Blood Curse takes place in the same universe as the previous SIREN games
o The characters and storyline are completely independent of the previous SIREN games

The Shibito seen in the game are not exactly zombies but they are very similar. Shibito is the Japanese word for “living undead”. They reside in the village of Hanuda where they kill humans and convert them into Shibuto as well. The overall mythology of the SIREN series is based off of true Japanese urban legends.

An interesting gameplay device in the SIREN series has been the “Sight Jack” feature where you are able to see through the perspective of another person and even control their actions. In SIREN: Blood Curse, this feature has been refined into a split-screen mode where you can still view the primary player and the player that you are controlling.

Miscellaneous :

* This game is intended for use exclusively with the PLAYSTATION 3 console
* As will previous Blu-ray sized releases on the PlayStation Store, there has been a strict digital rights management (DRM) system in place. For example, both Warhawk and Gran Turismo 5: Prologue have had these strict DRM systems in place. This is NOT the case with SIREN: Blood Curse.
o You may download the game onto 5 different PLAYSTATION 3 consoles using the same PSN account.

Yoda on the PS3
Posted on July 29th, 2008 at 11:16 AM by Ves

According to PS3Fanboy the official Korean Playstation site Yoda will be downloadable from PSN for Soul Calibur 4. After an in-game footage of a battle between Yoda and Dark Vader spread the web rumours have been spreading more rapidly on which console this was. Some gave the 360 the advantage as Microsoft is willing to pay for downloadable content.

Neither Namco or SCEE/SCEA have confirmed this rumour (yet).

In this months issue of EGM #232, it features an interview with Hiromichi Tanaka, the lead developer for Final Fantasy XI.

Here’s the key points taken from the interview.

  • The back and fourth communication with the fans has made FFXI successful.
  • Problem with Japanese market compared to EUR/US is that it hasn’t changed much. Doesn’t move as fast as EUR/US with each new console generation.
  • Upcoming MMO differnt than FFXI. Same team that worked on FFXI is working on new MMO. So they’ll use what they learned for next game. Aiming for something different from the beginning.
  • Not meant to replace FFXI. They want both games to exist in same world.(as in Earth) Without one replacing the other
  • As long as gamers keep playing FFXI they will continue to make content. And that regards to future expansions which will be delivered as patches for now.
  • Can’t say anything else about the future MMORPG

It seems that the Ghostbusters video game has gone off the radar when Activision Blizzard submitted their latest release schedule with no mention of the game.

The company plans to realign staff at High Moon Studios and Radical Entertainment, while Massive Entertainment and Swordfish Studios are both under consideration for sale or closure.

Activision publishing CEO Mike Griffith said:

“We are focused on improving efficiency across the combined organisation and are concentrating on businesses where we have leadership positions that are aligned with Activision Publishing’s long-term corporate objectives,”

“We have conducted a thorough review of Vivendi Games’ brand portfolio and are retaining those franchises and titles that are a strong fit with our long-term product strategy. We are reviewing our options regarding those titles that we will not be publishing.”

“We are very excited to add such recognisable and successful brands as Crash Bandicoot, Ice Age and Spyro, which reinforce our leadership position in movie-based and family entertainment video games,”

Prototype, Crash Bandicoot and Ice Age have solid release dates for now.

So you’ve downloaded the PixelJunk Eden demo from the U.S Playstation Store and want to know how and where to get the hidden secret?

Special thanks to Studio4DX over on the Gametrailers forums for pointing this out to us.

Here it is… THE PIXEL JUNK EDEN, DEMO: THE HIDDEN SECRET! IS NOT REALLY A SECRET, mybad!

>I RETRACT THAT THIS IS A SECRET<
I just assumed everyone just figured you had to complete the entire first garden, before you could play the 2nd… mybad — However great game, can’t wait to purchase full version… –4DX

There was a rumour that there was a secret in the Pixel Junk Eden Demo… I personal love the game, and kept replaying the 1st garden over and over… (although you can see the other 4 gardens, they were not playable – and just said you had to purchase the game) and then I just figured out the secret, to unlock 3 more gardens THAT ARE PLAYABLE.

(if this has been posted before I’m sorry, I didn’t not see it – and I really wanted to share it with the community, since I was very stoked when I figured it out)… –4DX

Here’s how you do it…

1) Play ONLY the first round of the 1st garden.

2) Then jump to your left on the blue flower and play the FIRST & SECOND rounds of the 2nd garden…

3) NOW you can jump up and play the 3rd garden… I’m 2 rounds deep into the third garden (I can see the forth, but just can’t reach it yet) it’s prob possible to play the 4th garden once you play the 3rd round of the third garden… but I just wanted to spread the information to all of you…

NOTE **IF YOU PLAY ALL 5 ROUNDS OF THE FIRST GARDEN, YES you will be able to see the other 4 gardens (that is no secret) but you will NOT be able to play them…

I hope this help some of you.

With help from the Playstation 3, Blu Ray sales continue to rise despite staggering U.S. economy.

DVD sales have been declining while Blu-ray sales have bee rising. Most likely due to people switching over to high definition and helping Blu-ray achieve sales of more than $200 million in the first half of 2008.

Mike Dunn of 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment said:

“We are trending 8% Blu-ray sales [per title], and at the end of the year, we will be between 10% and 12%,”

General manager of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, Lori MacPherson shares her thoughts:

“I think people are becoming pickier on what they spend their money on, but home entertainment always represents a good value. Thirty dollars for a Blu-ray movie that you can watch over and over again is still a great value,”

Predictions say that Blu-ray will have overtaken DVD by 2012.

If Final Fantasy VII got remade exclusively for the Playstation 3, what effect will it have on the market? First of all it will make everyone forget about FFXIII and all those Xbox 360 fans that wanted FFXIII on their system will suddenly change their minds. A FFVII remake will be gigantic and a HUGE system seller. FF7 remake is one of the most wanted games this generation.

Here’s some points on the effects an FF7 remake could produce.

  • It could sell millions of PS3 units easily
  • A never ending surge of sales
  • Japan would explode
  • Could it be the end of the console war?
  • Would Microsoft try and buy rights for it to bring it to their console?
  • It will either lead Sony to victory or do nothing, it depends how Square does it
  • It will most likely be the best selling game this generation ever

I mentioned that IF a FFVII remake were to be done, Square Enix can’t mess with the game and has to do it right. They have to keep the game the same and can’t change a thing such as changing the battle system from the old turn-based. They need to keep it exactly the same but with this generation graphics.

More and more rumors are popping up all over the internet regarding FFVII. If a remake isn’t done, then it will be released on the Playstation Store as a classic, which probably won’t have as big an impact.

Any other effects it could have?

Need For Speed Undercover’s release date has been announced and will be available on the 18th of November 2008. It is confirmed that Christina Milian will be in the game as this years poster-girl for the game.

Previously, Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello stated that Undercover is taking inspiration from action films such as The Transporter to tell the games story. John Doyle, from EA Black Box also hinted that the game will have a “Most Wanted-ish” sandbox style of gameplay.

Riccitiello also previously commented that ProStreet didn’t live up to EA’s hopes for the game, which is a pretty candid statement for a CEO to make about one of his own games. As a result this game has being granted a longer period in development – 18 months instead of the usual 12.
