The Japanese Playstation Home beta opens today providing you follow the these instructions. There is a banner on the front page of the Japanese Playstation Store, you need to download this banner and you’ll then be in the Home beta.
The banner weighs in at 277KB and you must download this before the 11th of August 2008.

The long awaited Playstation Network cards have made such a quite arrival in the U.S.

The sales for the 80GB Playstation 3 bundled with Metal Gear Solid 4 was held in the top five sales at Amazon.com. It was rank 3 on Tuesday and held at rank 3 last week. The demand is that high Amazon are limiting this bundle to just 1 per household. You get The 80GB PS3, Metal Gear Solid 4 and a DualShock 3 controller.
An update for Gran Turismo 5: Prologue will be released on the 1st of August 2008. It is expected that it will take the users experience to the next level.
The heart of the update is the ‘Gran Turismo TV’ the in-game automotive media channel. You’ll be able to watch free and pay-per-view programmes including Top Gear.
Whether you’re in the mood to tour Ferrari’s factory in Italy with Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, or to be insulted by Jeremy Clarkson talking trash about your favorite cars, or even sitting down to watch some mad Japanese race drivers play ‘car soccer’, there is a variety of choices for all types of car fans. Gran Turismo TV is housed within Gran Turismo 5 Prologue so access and videos is all in-game!
Here’s some key points in this update:
- For the first two weeks only, we are providing all pay-per-view content for at a discounted price of $.99! It’s a good way to get a taste Gran Turismo TV. The HD content we shoot for our exclusive stuff looks pretty amazing. Following the initial two-week period, content will start at $1.99. So start downloading away!

There are some in-game fixes including; penalty judgments, more tire choices for Time Trial and improved physics during collisions between cars during online races.

For those waiting for Ubisoft’s attempt at a jet fighter game will be left dissapointed. The game was originally scheduled for a September release but has now been delayed until 2009. No reason was given for the delay.

I highly doubt we’ll be seeing any new major announcements, it’s too soon after Metal Gear Solid 4.
Sony has cleared things up regarding it’s Home service. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s Darren Cairns and Liam Wickham at the Develop Conference event outlined that the focox of Home is on gaming and not social networking.
“Home is not a social network – it’s focused on games. It’s a visual representation of the PlayStation community.”
My personal opinion is that it has both, gaming and social networking resources. It makes clear sense.

Sony has released their fiscal earning figures and according to the report, Sony sold around 1.56 million Playstation 3’s in the first quarter of 2008 taking the total sales to 14.4 million. Just 700,000 were sold in the first quarter of 2007, so thats a huge leap forwards.
Sony’s gaming division made a profit of 51 million dollars during the first quarter of 2008.

Well well, what a difference a year can make. This time last year the Playstation 3 earnt Electronic Arts around $13 million, this time however, the PS3 earns EA around £139 million! Thats 969% year on year change. The PS3 is miles ahead of the Xbox 360 who earnt EA around $81 million. The second highest earner is the PC. God knows what’s changed in a year.
Maybe EA will start caring about stupid ports from the 360 to the PS3 (The Orange Box for example).
Could this be the reason why were’re seeing exclusive game modes? (FIFA 09).

FIFA 09: Some new informationFIFA 09 is set to be the best football game ever created and the lads over at fifasoccerblog.com have new information from their visit to EA sports in Vancouver.
Here’s what they have to say:
1. Be a pro is 4 seasons offline
2. They have a new EA locker where the game tactics and formations an stuff by the fans can be exchanged!
3. They are also implementing a new online rule for quitters. If you quit in the first 3 minutes no penalty. Quit between 3 and 5 minutes you get a DNF and quit after 5 minutes you get a 5 minute loss and a really bad rating.
4. Collision system is phenomenal! You really have to see it in action.
5. New jostling system is also amazing.
6. Ball physics and passing is improved drastically.
7. The pace of the game is much better.
8. The manager mode is pretty much the same, as well the edit mode.
9. There will be some major announcements at Leipzig about the exclusive ps3 mode.
10. Player fatigue has been improved.
The 3 minute quit thing seems a bit harsh because what if you score 3 or more goals in the first 3 minutes and they quit? They won’t get a penalty?
I also wonder what this exclusive game mode is that is only available for the Playstation 3.
