According to joystiq’s Christopher Grant, Sony is trying to come up with a Bungie.net style community website for its games. During Christopher’s visit to Sony’s Pre-E3 Judge’s Event in LA, he noticed a recurring phrase in his handbook and that phrase was community website. it’s possible that Sony will make this happen.

LittleBigPlanet – While they’re “not decided yet” on exactly how to integrate the game into a community website, if any mechanic seems ripe for such a project, rankings and stats for LBP’s user-generated content seem like a sure bet.

Killzone 2 – There already is a my.killzone.com site for Killzone: Liberation, but adding “rankings and statistics” for Killzone 2 is the plan.

SOCOM: Confrontation – They plan on launching a community site – think “My SOCOM” – on SOCOM.com. There’s nothing there now, and MySOCOM.com is taken.

Motorstorm: Pacific Rim – The Motorstorm representative wasn’t very interested in providing any details, but she told us that they would have a “community website” as well.

Resistance 2 – Insomniac has perhaps the most ambitious plans for community content, dedicating an entire development team to the task. They’re “overhauling” MyResistance.net, adding things along the lines of “facebook-like features.”

So Sony gamers can look forwards to having community style website for their favourite games. Seems like a good idea and look forwards to seeing the sites.

Sony Computer Entertainment America has told the world that the reason behind the delay for Killzone 2 is because of the strong and crowded line up this fall.

“Just wanted to add a quick reply on the “delay” of Killzone 2 to Feb 2009. To be clear, there is nothing wrong or causing a delay to the development of the title. We (SECA) had to look at the fall calendar with SOCOM, LittleBigPlanet, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, Resistance 2, plus some PSN titles and make a decision where each game should come out. Killzone 2 was moved to Feb 2009 to make sure we didn’t have three shooters in the marketplace competing for retail dollars during the same holiday season. The game will be great and it will be out in Feb 2009 in both Europe and North America.

Hope this helps – alot of times we gamers read delay and think something is wrong, in this case, it was a pure management decision.”

New chapers could well be coming when Metal Gear Solid 4 launches in a few weeks. We have been told before that MGS4 is the last ever Metal Gear game but as of recently developers a spokes peoples have revealed hints that it isn’t the last. Check this story out and this one.

IGN has reported that chapters could be added after MGS4 is released.

“According to Payton, “I think there’s been some misconceptions that this is the last ‘Metal Gear.’ This is really just the last chapter of the saga of the Solid Snake Story.” While Payton doesn’t mention what direction the series could take without its iconic character, it does add some additional validity to an interview we did with Hideo Kojima where he mentioned having different ideas related to the Metal Gear universe that may or may not include Snake.”

Wow, a pair of thieves steal 1,440 Playstation 3 machines worth £700,000 (1.4 million US dollars). The pair have been remanded custody pending sentence. The two men aged 28 and 29 stole the Playstation 3’s from NYK Logistics in Grange Park, Northampton and they denied theft but were found guilty with a week long trial.

Judge Charles Wide QC said:

“Even though the Crown put their role as foot soldiers, custody is absolutely inevitable and I remand them in custody.”

Oh well at least they got caught for stealing that many PS3’s.

“CCTV footage was played to the jury showing an unmarked 38-tonne HGV lorry with two men in the cab arriving at the warehouse’s gates.”

Blu-Ray is to receive 3D content and the first 3D player will be first presented at at SID 2008. Not only that but it will make use of a standard Blu-ray disc and work on existing non 3D Blu-Ray players.

“Unlike other high definition 3D options, when the 3D film is played in a non-3D Blu-ray player, it will play without any loss of quality, color, frame rate, or resolution.”

The Director of Product Marketing for TDVision Systems, Ethan Schur said:

“TDVision has enabled a media breakthrough with our AlterSpace product by enabling the world’s first and only stereoscopic virtual world featuring media sharing and viewing. Compatible with multiple 3D display devices, this will be the industry standard that others go by.”

So anyone wondering if their PS3 is out of date for Blu-Ray technology the answer is no its not!

According to a gamers blog the Dual Shock 3 controller could be released at the end of July. Basically this gamer pre-ordered Metal Gear Solid 4 only to find out that the controller is not available so he/she e-mailed Sony Playstation South Africa and enquired about the Dual Shock 3 and he got a reply saying this:

“We have been advised that SCEE will be launching the Dual Shock 3 at the end of July in all PAL territories.”

So the end of July sounds about right for Europe. Just thought i would point that out to our fellow European readers.
