The Playstation 3 has officially outsold the Xbox 360 by 45% in Q1 in Australia. Sony Managing Director Michael Ephraim spoke in an interview (published tomorrow on PALGN) about the sales of the PlayStation 3 in Australia.
Michael made the following comment:
“we think it’s a matter of time before we surpass the install base, but I think with Xbox, they’ve had a few strong English speaking territories, US, UK and Australia being one of them. In Europe they were very weak in Continential Europe, so they have done fairly well here, but with the rate we’re going we will definitely surpass the install base, we’re just guessing somewhere around the end of the year, if not sooner if the trend keeps going the way it is.”
Michael mentioned the sales of the Playstation 3 outselling the 360 by saying this:
“I can tell you in the first quarter of 2008 we have outsold Xbox 360 by around 45%. That is not including the Bravia deal, which moved through around 30,000 units, so if you add the Bravia deal to our global sales we have now, in the first quarter of 2008 we have outsold the Xbox 360 by two to one.”
The only country Sony needs to concentrate on now is America and recent sale numbers show that the PS3 is outselling the 360 week by week since Blu-Ray was declared the winner in the next-gen format.

LittleBigPlanet is the next big game for the Playstation 3 and i think it will be a massive system seller. LBP should be released sometime in October 2008.

Glen Schofield the executive producer of horror games Dead Space takes on a tour and talk about the games story line and features. I just watched the video and have to say the game looks like hell! It looks scary as hell! The atmosphere looks creepy and it could be one of them games you don’t want to play at night.

A video interview with the man behind Resistance, Ted Price. In this video Ted explains the 60 player multiplayer modes and features such as ‘battles within battles’. Sounds really good and i’m sure it will be fun. Resistance 2 will be launching this fall and promises to be one of the biggest first person shooters.

Hideo Kojima has already said that he wants to move on and make a new title or remake past games such as Zone of the Enders. That doesn’t mean Metal Gear Solid 5 won’t be made, it means that the series will get a new producer.
Also there is slight evidence that MGS5 could be made because of the following information…
Konami hosted their Metal Gear Solid 4 event in Tokyo a week or two ago and at the end of the event you could hear Ocelot’s voice and Ocelot said:
“By the way, what should we do about “The Project?” Yes, that’s correct. That man has fallen. It’s about the sequel.”
Not only that but when Hideo Kojima announced that Metal Gear Solid 4 was complete and ready to go he mentioned that it’s the grand finale, “final episode of the Solid Snake saga” and “Snake’s final mission.”
So what does this tell us? The next Metal Gear game won’t have Solid Snake? A new character could be introduced? The grand finale of what? Solid Snake? Kojima hasn’t said the Metal Gear Solid series is over but he has said it is “his” last one.
We will have to wait and see. I know that MGS4 isn’t out yet but what are your opinions on the possibility of MGS5 being made?

Command and Conquer is possibly the best real time strategy series ever. In fact i’ve recently bought Command and Conquer (the first one) and Command and Conquer: Red Alert from the Playstation Store and at the cheap price its at you can’t go wrong. Command and Conquer series belonged to Westwood Studios but Electronic Arts bought them out and took over the series.

Here are two new gameplay videos of Monolith’s upcoming horror first person shooter Project Origin. Project Origin should be released sometime towards the end of this year, we will probably get a real date at E3. The game is also looking very good and still has the F.E.A.R touch to it with slow-motion and intense gun fights.

According to the latest rumors, firmware version 2.40 could include the massively wanted in-game Xross Media Bar. So what do we mean by in-game XMB? It means accessing the main menu of the Playstation 3 while playing a game. Why might you want to do this? To message friends, play some of your music, go on the internet etc. The list goes on.
Whoelse from sev1512.wordpress.com has been in contact with an insider and basically the insider said:
“2.40 should include:
* Access your XMB chat features from any game.
* 2D trophies from the XMB where 70% of current titles will support them straight away
* Video Coding and groundwork for the Movie Store (Out Sept)”
Whether thats true or not we will have to wait until firmware version 2.40 is released.
