The Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack will hit Playstation Store on the 24th of April in the US and Europe. There were previous reports suggesting that the Map Pack will be released in Europe on May the 1st, not anymore though, so the Europeans don’t have to worry no more.

The Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Variety Map Packfor PS3 will be available on the PlayStation Network on Thursday April, 24 for both the US and Europe!

Additionally, since they won’t be coming out on two different days anymore all the Double XP / Play with the Devs goodness will be on the same day. Enjoy Double XP all weekend for both continents from 12:01 AM GMT on Friday, April 25 to 11:59 PM PDT on Sunday, April 27. We are also making Friday, April, 25 a “Play with the Devs” day. The Infinity Ward team will be playing online on Friday, April 25 from 11AM to 2PM PDT and from 5 PM to 8 PM PDT.

The price of the Map Pack is $9.99, so around £4.99 in the UK.

The Metal Gear Online beta is currently down for maintenance because of huge demand. Konami have announced that they will bring Metal Gear Online back online shortly. Also Konami have extended the Beta to a later date due to the downtime.

Sony is to launch an online video service for its Playstation 3. Playstation 3 users will be able to stream movies and television shows from the internet through to the PS3.

Peter Dille, a senior vice president of marketing for Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc said:

“Many of you have been hearing rumblings about a video service that will allow you to download full-length TV shows and movies via PlayStation Network for North America,”

The online video service could be available from as early as this summer.

The Playstation 3 laptop we mentioned last week is now on eBay for auction. The current bid is currently at $23,600.00 and the final price will go to a charity called National Cancer Coalition. The next Uncharted game is set to be in India according to the latest rumors.

According to ps3forums.com they say:

“The top row of the egg says “naughty dog”.

The bottom row with bigger symbols says “manmad”.

At first I thought, what the hell is a manmad? So i googled it.

It seems that Manmad is the name of a city in India.

It kinda makes sense. I don’t know much about India but it sounds like there could be treasure in there somewhere.”

The sequel to F.E.A.R, Project Origin is on its way and we want to share some new gameplay videos to see how the game is getting along. Vivendi games owns the right to keep the original name, F.E.A.R while Monolith had to change the name of the series which is now Project Origin. Don’t worry though, while the name is different the characters and game setting is still the same, nothing has changed apart from the new name.

The people over at PSU have new details regarding the upcoming Playstation 3 exclusive, Wardevil. There are new screenshots of Wardevil, these screenshots are from in-game and are in full 1080p resolution running at 60 frames per second. According to PSU, a trailer will be released at the end of the month, so stay tuned for the trailer!

Wardevil is a Playstation 3 exclusive:

“For those of you who don’t know already, Wardevil is a PS3 exclusive and is set to hit sometime near the end of 2008 or possibly early 2009″

Wardevil is ran off a new game engine called “RTE1080″ which basically allows games to be ran at 1080p resolutions while pushing 60 frames per second!

Here are some details the developers of Wardevil have told PSU:

They are not finished with the game yet, still adding improvements both gameplay wise and graphically.

They are making good use of the SPU’s and streaming off of the Blu-ray disc.

Their goal is to get the Blu-ray film & game to look as identical as possible…so there is no transition between game/cinematic.

Grand Theft Auto IV has officially gone gold! According to Gamespot the game is en route to retailers around the world and will hit the April 29 release date.

During Take-Two’s shareholders’ meeting today, the publisher said that GTAIV has gone gold. The game is “in production and in trucks en route to retailers,” proclaimed Take-Two CEO Ben Feder. Rated M for Mature, GTAIV will be released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on April 29.

GTA IV is expected to generate more than $400 million in revenue in its opening week! Thats a lot of money!

The demo will be released on the Japanese Playstation Store so if your in a differen’t country you will need to create a Japanese account to download. The demo will be 550 MB file size.

The now very slow Konami ID site is to receive some maintenance work to fix the slowdown due to a lot of Metal Gear Online Beta users signing up and using up the resources.

Currently, the extraordinary levels of traffic levels are causing great difficulty for our customers in accessing the page.

In order to solve the problem, we will be carrying out emergency maintenance work on the site from 04/18/2008 at 20:00 (GMT+9h).

During maintenance, the KONAMI ID portal site will be taken down and therefore will be inaccessible.

Quake Wars, developed by Splash Damage and id Software and is the follow up to Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Quake Wars is a Battlefield type of game where you wage war on a massive scale, a square kilometer in fact.
