Canadian prices to drop on PS StoreSCEA has announced that they will drop the prices for Canadians this Thursday the 1st of May.
“We are continually looking for ways to enhance the player experience on the PLAYSTATION®Network, and downloadable content through the PLAYSTATION Store is just one of our areas of focus,” said Grace Chen, Senior Manager for the PLAYSTATION Store. “We anticipate that this price adjustment will meet the expectations of our Canadian consumers and provide them with a better PLAYSTATION Network experience.”
SCEA want to strengthen the Canadian currency and basically make the price for Canada. This is exciting news for Canadian PS3 owners and i’m surre sales will surge once the price changes kick in this Thursday.

PC Play magazine has an English version with Cevat Yerli, the president of Crytek, known for developing the PC shooter, Crysis. One of the questions in the interview is the state of the PC gaming industry.
Yerli’s response was this:
“It is certainly. We are suffering currently from the huge piracy that is encompassing Crysis. We seem to lead the charts in piracy by a large margin, a chart leading that is not desirable. I believe that’s the core problem of PC Gaming, piracy. To the degree PC Gamers that pirate games inherently destroy the platform. Similar games on consoles sell factors of 4-5 more. It was a big lesson for us and I believe we wont have PC exclusives as we did with Crysis in future. We are going to support PC, but not exclusive anymore.”
We could see futurer Crytek games appear on Playstation 3 and hopefully a Crysis port if we are lucky! Stay tuned for more new as we get it.

PSP might get Star Ocean remakesGamefly, an online retailer has listed two Star Ocean titles “Star Ocean: First Departure” and “Star Ocean: Second Evolution”. On the Gamefly’s website both titles are listed for a September the 30th release.
“Out of the blue Gamefly is listing both games with a placeholder September 30th release date. We’re probably not getting both PSP Star Ocean remakes on the same day, but this is the first sign of them.
Also interesting is Gamefly lists the Last Remnant as a PSP game. This is most likely an error since we know the game is in development for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Let’s hope Star Ocean: First Departure and Star Ocean: Second Evolution aren’t privy to the same kind of mistake.”

OXM: Star Ocean 4 is PS3 exclusiveThe Official Xbox Magazine (OXM) features an interview with the Infinite Undiscovery director, Hiroshi Ogawa. There were a few questions asked but near the end there was one question that got answered…
“Infinite Undiscovery aside: what tri-Ace game is your favorite? What RPGs, outside of tri-Ace’s, did you really like?”
Ogawa replied with:
“Star Ocean 4 [tri-Ace’s upcoming PS3 RPG] is my number one recommendation (laughs).”
That could well be a sign that Star Ocean 4 is a PS3 exclusive! Only time will tell.

The new Metal Gear Online content is available to download, so you will be prompted to update your MGO. A lot of people have been worried about the last step of the Konami ID which says something about payment. The Official Playstation Blog has told everyone not to worry about this, you don’t need to pay for Metal Gear Online.
The Official Playstation Blog says:
“MGO is not a paid subscription service, you can play online totally free right out of the box – we know some of you thought there might be some payment because of the last step of Konami ID registration, but that is to confirm your identity for future potential microtransaction content updates (you don’t have to register any payment info right now anyhow). There is no payment necessary to play, and – again – that is for future potential microtransaction content updates, when that content is available, should you want it.”
I hope this clears up a lot of worries.

3 members of UPS staff have been fired for stealing copies of Grand Theft Auto IV. Sources say the staff stole a copy for personal use.
“When we have a [big name release], we communicate it to operations and security teams. We have security in place at the facilities, and we make sure they understand to keep an eye out for things to exit the building,” he explained. How did they find where games were stolen? “We had tips from people inside, and some of them were discovered at intermediate hubs… it’s easy to spot: flaps torn, some boxes are re-taped.”
“They’re not selling them, these people are stealing one copy,”
So you’ve ordered a copy online and hoping to get it tomorrow morning… you wait and wait, the mail arrives and you search for a DVD sized packet, there isn’t one! you panic and wonder if the postman stole it just like the story above. You ring all the shops and they have all sold out! There is no way you can get a copy now…
What would you do if a postman stole your copy?

Tom Clancy’s Hawx PreviewThe Official Playstation Magazine featured a Tom Clancy’s Hawx preview, Ubisoft’s attempt at creating an Ace Combat competitor.
There is some sort of drifting involved in Hawx, and drifting is the jet term for handbrake turns. So what does this mean? It means that you can skid the plane through the air, point it in the direction you want and then whack the afterburner on to send you plane in that direction. So imagine this, an enemy is chasing you and you want to do something about it, do a drift, point your plane towards the enemy and simply turn the afterburners on and send a rocket his way. Or even better go nose down towards the ground, drift and put the plane upright, and after burn away inches from touching the ground. The possibilities are endless.
You can only do this when you have turned electronic flying aids off and it puts you into an external cinematic view mode. It sounds very tricky but after pulling off a few stunts it starts to make sense and you will get used to it.
While turning off the assistance looks fantastic, it does limit your use of features you would find playing with flying aids switched on. The Official Playstation magazine says hitting things is one.
Cockpit view limits you from pulling off such stunts but will warn you when you’re about to hit something or stall.
Now onto the HUD. The HUD is very much like that found in Ghost Recon 2 (GRAW2) that displays plenty of information such as the enemies’ location and targets.
You have team mates that help you, in the sky and on the ground. Just like in GRAW2, you can select units using the left and right on the D-PAD and to give orders to the selected units you use up and down.
You can order bombers to take out a ground target, a fighter to dogfight and radar planes to utilise some sort of UAV similar to GRAW2’s UAV’s. Talk into the headset to issue commands, select units and switch weapons as seen in Endwar.
On completion of each mission you are awarded with XP and depending on how well you did on the mission determines how much XP you get. XP is used to enhance skills and unlock new abilities. You can also earn money in the game through the PMC and you can spend the money on new planes and weapons.
So there you have it, the Hawx preview. Purchase the Official Playstation Magazine – UK May edition to find out more information as they have a Q&A with the lead designer and also 5 big questions regarding the game.
Are you going to buy Hawx when it’s released?

Eight Days now in full productionWe spoke about what happened to Eight Days a few weeks ago and couldn’t really find any information on the game. Well now news has just come in that Eight Days is now in full production!
“A team of 63 is currently working on the game, which is expected to increase to around 120″
According to videogamer the Sony London team are also working on the next “The Getaway” game, but first they are working to get Eight Days complete and ready for release before moving across to The Getaway.
“The idea is to have two pre-production teams and one production team, which flips onto whatever product, at that point of time, is ready to have that team working on it,”
